What is so baffling about all this is that it’s such an own goal by WWE. People were hyped for Mania coming out of the Rumble. Yeah Punk getting hurt sucked, but the rest of the vibes were very positive. And it one week, they’ve poisoned the atmosphere for no good reason? So much of this could have been avoided if Dwayne "I'm the hardest worker in the room, all my success is because I work so so hard guys" Johnson would have worked 5 goddamn minutes in the Rumble and just won the thing himself. Cody winning and stepping aside for Dwayne is (obviously) the worst, most baffling route to take.

What's been up with Meltz man? Sounds like he's going pretty hard at this and it ain't normal. I don't know if he and Rock are friends but it's kind of weird and it sounds personal.

Dave could have just have easily said something like “the ticket sales for Raw were up, but we’ll see if this angle works out in the long run.” Instead he’s about two steps away from renaming the award Dwayne Johnson Booker of the Year award. This is my main problem with Dave, and SRS too. Their reporting is usually right 90% of the time but they both come across as such smug assholes a lot of the time. How hard is it to simply report what you hear without basically being like "and anyone who thinks otherwise is a f***ing idiot." I think the most straight laced reporter in that sense that wrestling really has right now is Mike Johnson.

He’s really making it seem like the plan is Cody in the WWE title match in some iteration, with Rock involved in some fashion.

The most logical way to do it would be Cody vs. Roman, with Rock as the special guest enforcer ala Mike Tyson to cancel out the Bloodline interference.
Then you do Roman vs. Rock next year (if Mania is in Vegas next year as has been rumored, Roman vs. Rock makes sense for there than in Philly).

Strap in folks we're locked into a good old fashioned dirtsheet proxy war between Team Rock led by Meltzer and Team Cody led by SRS. Just let out a zombie grunt loud enough to probably actually wake the dead.

He’s really making it seem like the plan is Cody in the WWE title match in some iteration, with Rock involved in some fashion. Which is why it's kinda annoying he wouldn't just say that flat out then. If that's what he's heard why not simply say "Cody will be in the WWE title match at Wrestlemania" rather then being weird and vague about it in 100 tweets? I realize the reason he's likely not going that far is because he's not certain. Which would be fine! But in that case there's no reason to be so sanctimonious about it all day. If you don't know just say you don't know. And if you do know then say it properly rather than playing games like a gossiping child in the playground.

Just watched the video of Cody speaking to the fans post-RAW, this man has to beat Roman at Mania, there's just no way it can't happen.

I can’t imagine them clearing Seth for a Chamber match. The Chamber match wouldn’t have Rollins in it, just the contenders to who will face him at Mania. So I’m guessing Drew, Sami, Miz, Balor, Jey and Bron?

Even a triple threat doesn't make sense for Cody. Why would he agree to a plan with Rock that theoretically takes his chances of winning the title at Mania from 50% to 33.3%? Bron Breakker gave Cody a Maths lession that his highly educated Uncle taught him.

I understand the argument of why they’re doing this. The Rock = More Money isn’t a difficult concept to comprehend. But I’d still think that aesthetics would matter. I’d still think that they wouldn’t want this match, that’s been the apple of their eye for years, to take place amidst a sea of boos. Rock thrives on admiration. And he’s usually greeted like a returning god. Does he really want, during what could be his final match, to get booed out of the building? I’m sure they think they can salvage it. That they’ll get everything they want. But I think they’re in for a rude awakening.

If the world was just, when WWE submits their next "For Your Consideration" tape to the Emmy's, they would send them back a watch.

I'd rather them do anything other than a triple threat. Reigns v Rock and Reigns v Cody are the matches people wanna see, not a combination of them all.

The best way to pivot is all up to Roman's character.
Calls out the Rock for taking Cody's spot. And that during the time Roman was champion, The Rock stayed the hell away and he's scared.
He baits him Rock into a one on one match with Cody at EC for the right to face Roman once and for all.
Cody goes over Rock at EC. Rock shakes his hand.
Then they both create a scheme where Rock is special ref in the main event and here we are all over again, but sort of salvage.
Roman's mind games to turn Cody and Rock against each other fail.
