If WWE wants to make summer slam almost like a second WM, why not just do the Cody v Roman at Mania then have Roman destroy the rest of his bloodline over the next couple months before Rock comes in, make it a headline main event, have Roman win and then whatever

On my very amateurish opinion it sounds like ars's is talking to someone close to Cody and Meltzer to someone very high up.

Nah, but unless they want to hilariously recreate face Roman Reigns, they'll pivot to it. It's the only way out.

I suspect they thought a minority of fans would be annoyed, but Rock's stardom would make up for it. They certainly did not anticipate that Rock himself would be getting the brunt of the backlash, rather than the bookers.

I don't see the point unless it is to turn Roman face. While that may work down the line, I don't see it doing so now.

Now doing a heel Rock vs. face Cody, old People Champ vs. new, could work, I think that would be down the line after Cody beats Roman.

They keep on teasing the Hulk Hogan record, which would be passed officially on Sept 13th, 2024, which is a Friday Night Smackdown.

So if Roman has it until then, I think he goes past Summerslam.
