I say if they go with the idea of Cody winning the belt night one, then have Priest cash in for an actual match on night two. He's probably failing the cash-in anyway, so at least it'd be in an actual match and on a big stage instead of Sandowing it, and it'd let the fans on night two still get to see Cody triumphant. Triple H: I like this idea but what if Priest cashes in 60 seconds after Cody wins and gets the title then we can have another 12 months of a heel champ with a faction? Would dressing Priest in more leather and giving him a dadrock theme sweeten the deal?

You could maybe explain it by way of Cody bating Roman into agreeing to the Rock match first and only once it's official announcing he's coming after Roman as well. It's clumsy but it works as both a mindgame tactic and a way to force Roman to work a more regular schedule than he's been doing and split his focus between getting ready for two different matches. Something getting to me with it is the matter of Seth. If Cody isn't challenging him then they need to hurry up and say so so they can do a match for the title shot at Elimination Chamber, but I could see them being hesitate to commit to that depending on how up in the air his status is. If I'm predicting how it'll go down tonight, I think it'll be something like The Rock and Roman Reigns go face to face and announce that they'll be fighting at WrestleMania. Seth Rollins gets up and does his cackle and strut, but during the pause, either Cody Rhodes or Nick Aldis or whoever says "...but that's not the only person Roman Reigns will face at WrestleMania." And that's how we get to a triple threat or two matches over two nights, with Rock, Roman, and Cody center stage and Seth Rollins left mouth agape with the decision. Later tonight or sometime tomorrow, Adam Pearce announces that there will be a men's Elimination Chamber match to determine Seth Rollins' opponent at WrestleMania XL.

No matter how you slice it, there's still no logical walking back of "I won't come after you at Wrestlemania" or whatever it was. A triple threat or some two-matches/two-nights thing would mitigate the worst of it, but it really won't be as satisfying. He can say he didn’t finish his sentence. “I won’t come after you at Wrestlemania…Night 1” or night 2. Or something like that. Or he just straight up lied to him, or changed his mind.

Rock beating Roman is actual indefensible dogshit that makes the entire roster look bad no matter which night it'd happen on I do feel like by far the more palatable option is Roman beats Rock night one, loses to Cody night two, but I really, really can't see them doing that. Unless Rock gets to show up and singlehandedly beat down Jimmy and Solo then probably hit a Rock Bottom on Roman afterward and have his music playing instead of Cody's to end the show. And really I'd take Roman losing both nights over him beating Rock on night two because holy shit enough with ending Mania on heels winning. I've said this from before Rock joined TKO and him returning was just a rumour, to IRL wrestling fans I know- I don't get why they don't just go with Cody/Roman II to do the Rocky story, maybe with Rock as the ref, and do Rock/Jey vs Jimmy/Solo, which you can then use to set up Rock/Roman, non-title for head of the family, on either a B-show PPV that would bring in huge amounts of otherwise unseen revenue from the Rock/Roman bump or Summerslam. Do this everyone wins. Jey, Jimmy and Solo ALL get a HUGE rub from working with Rock, which might finally make me care about one of them as an individual act. Cody/Roman gets to tie up everything major from the past 2 years and set the stage proper for the end of the Bloodline with Rock waiting. Hell you could have the tag headline Night 1 and Cody/Roman Night 2 if you really really wanted, it'd be big enough and Rock technically is headlining both nights then to feed his ego, and everyone, including his own freaking family, get shine from it. It's a tag match so Rock's not exposed, he can get his entrance pop, Jey do 90% of the work, Rock just hot tags, hits his spots, crowd are happy. Then when you do Rock/Roman it has unpredictability as to the finish, does Rock get beaten and Roman the monster is back in the hunt, does Rock send Roman packing to Hollywood, does Rock turn heel/Roman face in a swerve, you can do so much and nobody would know what's coming. Plus, while Mania's gonna draw with this, Mania draws money away. Putting this on another show means you're probably seeing a bigger differential vs without, ie. bigger actual gain on your investment. As has been said 1 million times with this weird carrot-and-stick, adversity booking to try and generate interest via outrage- wrestling doesn't need to be that complicated.

Will say if I were doing that I'd probably have Cody preface it with something like, "Seth is right. He is a better champion than you. He is the real man around here. His title is the real prize. ... And that's why I'm coming after you, because enough is enough," just to not make Seth's belt look like even more of a joke than it already is.

I could maybe see them doing Roman beating Rock on night one if it's a bullshit ending and they have Rock run off the Bloodline interference on night 2 and hold Cody's arm up. Annoying, but I at least would get the point of it. Then you do Rock vs Roman rematch for Backlash or whenever to get his revenge if they want him to then get a title shot vs Cody at Summerslam, or you put the Roman match off until Summerslam if Rock isn't going to challenge Cody.

I'm stealing someone's idea, but it could be walked back by having Cody Rhodes say something like, "I sought counsel from everyone but those who matter the most - the fans." He could then talk about how the "We want Cody!" chants refocused him and made him realize that the fans were right all along. It's not the greatest resolution, but it's a way to walk it back. It’s a lot better than pretending it didn’t happen like that Becky Lynch heel promo where she called the fans lazy millennials.

I mean, yeah, he could. And maybe he will. But no matter what happens that line was a still a major unforced error that requires some cockamamie explanation to get out of it. No reason to have ever done it.

Hmmm, I feel if they didn't pivot they wouldn't be teasing it like this. Don't want to get my hopes up though.

Cody Rhodes has made his decision.
He's going to evolve his Eevee into Flareon.
