And you got this from WHAT, exactly. I stated before WM last year I was fine with Cody winning and I would have been fine with him winning this year too. The thread I linked. I actually wasn't talking about Ace! If you like Roman and you want him to continue keeping on, that is a-ok. Plenty of people love him and even I can find the sick satisfaction in seeing some dude just win against everyone time after time. There is a bit of hardcore holly in all of us but yeah... If you just don't want Cody to have a moment and want Roman to continue winning just say so lmao. There's nothing wrong with that and turning it into "why is everyone so angry" is comical. Again, I have zero problem with Cody as champ and leading up to WM last year I had no problem with him winning then. When he dethrones Roman this time around I'm still not going to have a problem with it. Cody eventually beating Roman has ZILCH to do with why I have a problem with certain mindsets here, especially since there's been plenty of times the last year and a half where I've fully expected it to end.

I'm getting the sense that Seth vs Cody is happening, and Roman vs Rock, to fill the dual purpose of Cody just becoming champion, Roman extending his reign past Hogan, putting Rock vs Roman on the grandest stage, and making the most of the situation with opponents for Seth & Cody with injuries out. This was why they subtly teased this. I fully expect this to happen. Judging by the reaction it got on social media and live in Tampa - with the audience chanting "NO! NO! NO!" - a hypothetical Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins championship match at WrestleMania would have the crowd turn on it like Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34. I know we're predisposed to always assume the worst when it comes to WWE booking, but they won't be so stupid as to have Cody Rhodes, whose entire storyline has been built around "Finishing the Story" by winning the championship his father never won and dethroning Roman Reigns' 1,000-day reign, decide at the eleventh hour, "You know, I'm fine going for the consolation title." Crap. I called it.

The top comments are crucifying them as well. It might actually be worth it to see the crowd hijack it. I mentioned it earlier, work with a charity and we take kids on a trip every year. A bunch wanted to see Mania after Cody won the Rumble. We can really only do the Sunday because of cost issues. Now none of the kids want to go. As much as adult hardcore fans dislike this, Cody Rhodes is like John Cena to young kids right now and they don't really have the same fascination with The Rock as older casual fans. He's still cool, but he's not * their* guy *We canceled the trip and are just going to Disneyland now, so happy ending for anyone wondering I loved The Rock when I was a kid, but that was 25 years ago when he was around all the time. I wonder how many kids just see him as some guy their parents used to watch.

I've said from day one (ish), they should do Cody v Roman on night one. Cody wins the belt leaving Roman devastated with his world crumbling. On night two, Roman faces Rock who then takes all Roman has left away and ends the Bloodline for good.

He's the top face and the top merch seller. The comparison's apt regardless of your opinion on how their talent compares. As an aside, Cody vs. the 1996-97 version of Stone Cold would be a hell of a feud. "If you switch L for the letter R in front of 'Rhodes', you'd have my exact opinion of the amount of crap Cody's got to eat because of the Rock!"

Ya know, if they just inversed it, and had Rock take on Seth and Cody take on Roman, it would likely work out much better for all parties. Seth gets HUGE bump by beating The Rock (while carrying him to a much better match than what Roman can do), Cody finishes his story, and fans go home happy.
Instead, we get a 14 month build up for nothing

It has one of the worst down vote ratios since Roman won the Rumble 8 years ago Like what did they expect? Imagine sitting through the original Star Wars trilogy waiting for Luke to confront Darth Vader, just for George Lucas to switch it to Jar Jar, because he thinks he's more marketable. The top comments are crucifying them as well. It might actually be worth it to see the crowd hijack it. the fans who would've hijacked it left a long time ago and are in jacksonville

This is the 2nd interaction between Roman and The Rock that ended up getting a way different response than WWE intended. Only this time it's Rock's fault.

Did Cody sign that new deal? If not, maybe it's time to go home and finish the story with another Samoan.....

Imagine comparing Phony Rhodes to 1998 Steve Austin. Tell me you’re in your twenties without telling me your in your twenties. He's the top face and the top merch seller. The comparison's apt regardless of your opinion on how their talent compares. In 1998 Steve Austin moved more merchandise than anyone in the history of the business. They aren’t remotely close to the same level. One was the hottest babyface in the history of pro wrestling. The other fakes tears, tells boring monotone stories and was easily moved aside. If you want to compare Cody’s popularity to someone maybe don’t pick THE MOST POPULAR PERSON OF ALL TIME AT THEIR ABSOLUTE PEAK. Compare it to something that makes sense. Like KofiMania. Except Kofi actually finished his story. Or half a Daniel Bryan. Except he also finished the story.

So either WWE/TKO threw away 14 months of a build to appease Rock's ego or to distract from a rape scandal. Am I getting that right?

I still can’t believe it happened. It was like genetically created in a lab to be the worst possible version of the segment. Cody just left!!!

the fans who would've hijacked it left a long time ago and are in jacksonville Nah, Wrestlemania crowd, especially in Philly is gonna be smark central When's the last time WWE had a crowd like that? The fans who are in the arena seem to be having a great time and for the smarks who would get themselves over like they used to back in the days when they took over post mania raws, Canada as bizarro world, etc., that's not really there in WWE anymore

Last year the entire crowd went absolutely mental for Shane McMahon, I get that a lot of us are upset but there is definitely going to be more cheers than boos at Mania. This is what it is.

As much as it will suck, Cody wins the title at Elimination Chamber? Frees him to wrestle Gunther at Mania.
Still gives you Rock vs Roman as well.
