If you didn't love Cody before now he's pissed off Val Venis by taking a photo with a trans flag so you know he's a hero.

After his promo at Elimination Chamber, I'm concerned that WWE is pivoting too hard toward the feud between The Rock and Cody Rhodes when the attention should be on Cody Rhodes versus Roman Reigns.
Granted, they have six weeks of programming until WrestleMania XL, but since the Press Conference a few weeks back, the main event's attention has been on "The Rock slapped Cody Rhodes, now Cody Rhodes wants revenge." When it should be "Roman Reigns pinned Cody Rhodes last year, now Cody Rhodes wants revenge."

Son of a bitch The Lion King is basically Hamlet animated so does that make Cody's story Shakespearean?
If so there need to be more double entendres and baudy humour.

Dude feels more and more like a third wheel and overshadowed by The Rock every week.

I still think this stinks of Austin/Tyson/HBK headed into Mania 14 It’s also taking away from the homerun story of the event that, even though they haven’t exactly been doing much storyline with it since last year, is the most easy thing to market. Roman/Cody II in Philly, basically reconstructing Rocky II (especially if Stallone does narration for the intro of the show) for the 40th WrestleMania where Roman is more and more annoyed by people saying he didn’t truly beat Cody the first time is so easy to market to a casual audience who isn’t watching consistently.

Dude feels more and more like a third wheel and overshadowed by The Rock every week. Rock has only made one appearance since Cody-Roman was announced so I think it makes sense that it feels like Rock is in the forefront of the story right now. But as we get closer to Mania (it’s still almost 6 weeks away) I imagine the Rock match for Night 1 will become clearer and the build between Roman-Cody (as well as the build for Rock-Roman which I assume will be the post-Mania fallout) will heat up. I also have to disagree that what they’re doing now doesn’t help the build. We already had the whole 8 week Rumble to Mania Cody-Roman build last year. Running the same thing back now exactly the same way would’ve gotten stale. Now instead we have dynamics involving the Bloodline themselves, as well as Cody assembling his Avengers to take out everyone else including Rock, Jimmy and Solo so that come the end of the match on Night 2, Roman is all alone with Cody. And I’d almost guarantee they are going to play up the whole Rocky 2 /Philly angle of it all, especially if the rumors of them looking to get Stallone are true. Would make for a great opening video package for Mania.

It really does feel like something they should've spent so much of the last year really leaning into; have others call Cody the "uncrowned champ" or something, have people poking holes in Roman's seemingly impregnable armor, wouldn't even have to do much with it given how much time he missed most of '23. It's a bit of good luck but also a sign of WWE doing a good job of no longer getting in the way of people who get really over that fans are still willing to go with it as "the story", since it really felt like something that got left dangling for nearly a year; the characters are still popular enough that people will roll with it, in spite of a lot of wheel spinning in the span of time between last Mania and the Rumble.
