I hope they don't end up giving it to Cody, if they didn't do it last night, it would taint his reign if he were to win it at a B show.
The end of Roman's run has to be a huge payoff at a big show. Should be WM, but at the very least a Summerslam. He has no credible opponents right now so let him spin his wheels for a bit doing the Cody rematch circuit, then start building his next opponent. The only person on the roster that I see being a credible challenger would be Gunther, but that would have to be a heel vs heel match.

There were a few people on this board that were genuinely happy at last night's result. I honestly would be very interested on their thoughts as to how this continues as I cannot get my head around it from a business perspective let alone an emotional one. Hopefully someone gives us some insight from this perspective. to answer this I like Roman and the Bloodline more than Cody first and foremost. I've just never really seen much in Cody, and am of the opinion that if he wasn't Big Dust's son he'd be Ziggler level. That's just my opinion, as a lot of people do really like him and that's cool. That said, I don't think that the story calls for the Bloodline to be in ruins from Cody winning the Rumble and taking the title. The cracks have been showing for a while and they're only getting bigger. Cody had Roman doubting himself more than ever in that match and Roman's paranoia is increasing weekly as he realizes that everyone else is catching up and he's becoming more desperate. I'm fine with Cody or anyone else involved beating Roman as long as the story calls for it, I just don't think that right now is the time. Cody needs more of a story than he won the Rumble, he's Dusty's son, and he left to prove himself and came back. That's not enough for me at least. I think that if he wasn't out for months with the injury he could have had a better story built up. The business side of it is easy. An unbeatable champion will always get people watching because they want to see them lose. It's why people will tune in to a garbage Jon Jones fight, watch any time that a Dynasty team is dominating(Patriots, Cowboys, Lakers, Yankees, etc at various points), why people watched Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali in their primes, ietc. It's an easy sell to get people to want to see Goliath toppled.

Roman retires and surrenders the belts because there is no one left to fight. He has conquered all.
As Roman hands the title to the new champ, he makes it known that the champ didn’t win by beating him.

It's still The Rock.
They're forever going to chase a 50+ Rock being the one who finally beats Roman, because "Head of the Table".
And he's never going to do it.
But they'll keep chasing him anyway.

WWE pathetically holding out for the Rock finally give up and Nia Jax returns to make her claim as the head of the table. She gets her new boyfriend to fight Roman, and that boyfriend's name is BuuuhhhhRooock Lesnar!

I can see him turning face in a haphazard attempt to keep it fresh while ultimately locking off the main-event for Christ knows how much longer.

I see Gunthers name being tossed around by some folk.
After lastnight no thanks he is the one singular untainted by Bloodline bullshit , if he is going win the world title it should be by beating whoever beats Roman....because I will be damned if I get roped in thinking Gunther is gonna be that guy and he gets Cody'd to.

Roman gets injured and the title is vacated. Seriously. This is pro wrestling. You get hurt all the time. Booking a dude as champ for YEARS in a row is just begging for Vacant to claim the title. From a thread in October of last year, on how Roman's reign would likely end: Before I opened the thread, I was gonna reiterate my fear that Roman's reign would only end with an injury and NO ONE getting the rub. Imagine my surprise to see a poll. WWE is really and truly playing with fire with this reign.

I'll throw out three options, all at Survivor Series so that they can get the 1,000 days and 3 years milestones out of the way.
Gunther - Title v Title with Gunther relinquishing the IC after winning, setting up a tournament to conclude at the Rumble with a Sheamus v McIntyre finals and Sheamus finally getting the IC title. Try to get Gunther to fill a more tweener-ish "force of nature" like role to maintain or boost his popularity, Imperium to counter the Bloodline.
Cody - do the "Take out the faction one by one" I guess to neutralize the Bloodline, remind Roman that he had him beat if not for Solo, and without his goons, etc...
Nakamura - left field choice, but screw it I want to see it.

Nia would be even less fitting because she's the only one who actually _IS_ directly blood-related to Rock, when the rest of them aren't.

Note I would have booked Cody to win, but the business case for Roman will be that in the past 6-8 months, what matches have gotten the most hype/anticipation heat? Roman vs Drew and then vs Sami and then Cody. I figure that they think they can milk one (or even more) of those matches, which will make them more money than Cody vs anyone. I believe they are pushing their luck though but we will see.

Maybe there is money still in Seth vs Roman but I am not sure they want to back to the well of Seth being the number 1 babyface but that is an option.

At this point I don't think they have an endgame in mind. They are going to run this into the ground probably. I sadly wouldn't be surprised if we go into the next Wrestlemania with Roman Reigns and Bianca still the champs.

I think the further dissolution of the bloodline is a story that has me locked in and the fact that cody can say roman wasn't good enough to beat him on his own will ding chief's fragile ego even more. You saw the cracks forming already on the road to mania, and with jey and Jimmy in for a rough few weeks, the full detonation of the bloodline should be happening soon The problem is, every major challenger could have made that claim that Roman couldn't beat them on his own but not a single one of them has. Jey and Jimmy showed cracks then fell right back into line last night which makes me wonder if they'll ever pull the trigger on that story. I hope they pull something good out of this but it's hard to imagine.

Roman drops the belt to Cody or someone else, probably at one of the b grade events. The new champ underwhelms the audience as wwe squandered the big pay off. They conclude the new champ is just a flop and put the title back on Roman.
This is the answer, right here.
Why they have this hard-on for keeping the belt on Roman, I'll never know. He's eclipsed Punk's reign handily, and there's no way in hell he's gonna touch Bruno's 2000+ day reign, or even Hogan's 1500 or so day reign.
I've heard the argument that you couldn't have the entire bloodline vanquished at one event because there'd be no credible heels left, but... whose fault is that, again?

Of course, that would lead to a bunch of pointless Roman and Solo vs Usos matches.
