Frankly, Grizzled Young Vets are up there with Ever-Rise as an easy tag team that was wasted in the developmental system. They were heat magnets who thought they were better than everyone else. That’s a tag team concept as old as time. I don’t get it, man. So here's the thing with that, in the WWE landscape there are two questions to ask when it comes to investing in tag teams. 1)Are you the Usos? 2)Are you part of the New Day? If the answer to both question is no you just kind of sit around and wait your turn until WWE just decides to put two singles wrestlers together

And now they can go back to being Liverpool's No 1. And soon to be the world's No. 1 Tag team. What a waste of such a good talker.

These guys are definitely gonna end up somewhere, AEW, ROH, Impact, or New Japan would be very glad to have them in their tag divisions.
Real damn shame this didn't work out but the tag divisions in either brand feel like they have some low ceilings

I assume they see the writing on the wall and would probably be cut in the inevitable cuts. Tag teams have never really been a thing that the WWE has cared about so best to go somewhere they're appreciated.

So does this mean the end of Schism, or is Gacy going to recruit a couple more guys to replace them?

Given how quickly they were granted those releases, got wonder who else asks now.
Roddy, quick, it's your chance!

Not to say that WWE hasn't ever denied releases from people they have no intention of using, but it really helps you learn your place when you get let loose mere hours after asking for it. If they left because they felt like they were going nowhere and weren't seen as worth pushing, this at least confirmed it.

Are you kidding? She's in the Anoa'i family. She could literally kill someone and keep her job as long as she wanted. Being good at wrestling is NOT necessary in this company if you have the right relatives. But being good at something surely means something. Yes, she's the daughter of the Rock. But her family is rich. Who's interest does it serve to pay her NXT money to do something she isn't very good at. I just wonder what she sees herself doing in WWE in 5 years. I wonder what they see her doing because I don't know. Oh, I don't at all disagree that's how it SHOULD be, but as someone else mentioned, they've kept Tamina employed for 13 years and she has never once shown the slightest aptitude for any aspect of wrestling, purely because of her family ties. They kept Nia Jax on the roster despite having a physical altercation on air with Charlotte Flair (ironically someone else who benefited greatly from nepotism) and hurting almost everyone she worked with. Do we even need to discuss the years and years they pushed Roman FAR before he was ready? There is a LONG history of the Anoa'i family being pushed and/or simply employed just because of the family history with the McMahons. Talent and behavior many times just didn't seem to matter.

They handled these two, especially Gibson, so badly. He went from being the biggest heel on the UK indy scene in the summer of 2018 with the whole of the Albert Hall baying for his blood, to jobbing to Humberto Carrillo on Royal Rumble Axxess in the space of about six months. How do you waste someone like that so badly?

I liked them more as GYV, too, but you have to admit Rip had the creepy cult member look down pat:

They actually wrote her off TV a few weeks after that match and then released her a few months later. Wouldn't surprise me her having an altercation with Charlotte played a part in them finally releasing her after not giving a crap about her constantly injuring people for years.

It will be very interesting to see how the new company handles things on that front after Vince is made to report to someone higher up. Yes, he'll be the executive chairman, but that doesn't necessarily mean a) he can run the company entirely his way anymore and b) a lot of the old carny shizz, including the preferential treatment towards certain groups on the roster, will undergo some closer scrutiny from within.

I'm not super big into James Drake, but man, put a mic in Zack Gibson's hands, and he is magic. Waste of a great tag team, hope they land somewhere fun.
