its mean spirited to use such a sweet and loveable character like Pooh and his friends in ways like this, its awful and it shows there are some people who have really seem to love turning genuine loveable characters into horrendous things like this. I couldnt see the Pooh horror film either so its a big no no for me. You have to wonder what people might ever do if the likes of My little pony ever became public domain.

I blame all these r-rated reboots of kids franchises on Robot Chicken.

Does EVERYTHING need to be dark and gritty?

The issue isn’t people using public domain stuff…we’ve had plenty of great works adapted from public domain characters. Every Shakespeare adaptation…every Dracula since the 60s…Frankenstein longer. Robin Hood, Zorro…Sherlock Holmes now. The problem is that only people without an ounce of creativity are making Winnie the Pooh. Bingo. There's so much that can be done with an adult-geared adaptation of something initially created for children, but these guys never have an idea beyond "dude what if sex/drugs/murder". It's like they start off just wanting the R rating, and work their way backwards from that, but that work is so shit that their R-rating never feels like a "grown up movie for grown ups" R so much as a "Bucky Larson: Born To Be a Star" R. Winnie the Pooh has been public domain for little over ONE year, and it's already entering self parody. While I'm at it, "all the fantastical creatures were a drug induced hallucination" is like baby's first headcanon. Try harder.

It shows how little they understand the things they're bastardising. The whole point of all the books and the characters was that they venerated childhood and innocence, they were supposed to be a celebration of that period in your life when everything is easy and comfortable, and for millions of people that's exactly what they are. They were never meant to be made dark or "gritty", and they're going to be ruined by Hollywood laziness.
