The strike has turned the MTV Movie/TV awards into a taped show. I hope good ole K.R. doesn't spoil the results on Sunday Night Baseball ala Tony on WCW Nitro on 1-4-99 spoiling the Mankind WWF title win

Whole lot of studios right now that seem to be doing their level best to piss off everyone else into also striking. Which is a great segue to: When was the last time Asslav said something that wasn't double dipped in stupid? It's a really bad look for someone of Jewish background to say something very similar to "Work sets you free."

Do some animation/live-action hyrbid and have Beavis and Butthead host.

Love of working will keep this strike going as long as it takes as this is about more than money, it's about ensuring their jobs have a future.

Just saw something today that makes it look likely that SAG-AFTRA is going to be joining the WGA in striking at the end of June. Apparently more and more contracts, specifically those for streaming services like Netflix, have clauses buried in them that lets the studio have rights to use the actor’s voice in infinite perpetuity for whatever purpose they want, utilizing any current and future technologies to achieve that. Naturally I presume any such Frankenstein voice usage under these contracts do not pay out more money to the actor who signs it.

We're going to have to have a period in which we'll have to rely on foreign films and tv and those made in a foreign language dubbed into English with the voices of non-union actors in need of work.

That's not going to happen. Non-union actors would basically have a black mark on their careers for the rest of their lives for being scabs.

I feel bad for the actors, i guess by the time production resumes, they'll be so old, their voices will be dubbed by kids in postproduction or Stranger Things may have to pull a Force 10 From Navarone in having to recast the roles.

But like they also like being paid... and knowing that studios are against paying them what they are worth...

You just need to write. If any of them wants to do that they can do that so why would love of the craft on its own motivate them to go back to being treated like shit?

I did remember hearing some stories that on the 2007 strike some writers had a few like minor screenplays they wrote within like a week after the strike ended... >_>

He likes being able to pay his bills and not live paycheck to paycheck or having to take second or third jobs because of how little he makes from writing even more.

Tangentially related:
Seriously, if studios have their way we could see AI actors performing AI-written scripts.
I don't see SAG not striking at this point.
