This is just a dumb gimmick
Players don't care about playing 82 games so unless there is an incentive (outside of obviously winning since it counts towards your 82 game schedule) they won't do much
From my understanding, it seems to basically take the "best two teams" but I doubt a team like Suns would care if they get upset by the Clippers or something
This would worked better in the 80s and 90s when players wanted to win everything

Dude I've read and watched like a million different summaries of the in season tournament and I'm still absolutely lost. Adam Silver stop bringing love. After trying to read the 40 page explanation on the NBA site I can only assume that Adam Silver learned about the Heritage Cup and wanted in on some of that action.  Why the f*** does every game count but the championship for records? I get they want these guys to actually play in the tournament and have it be meaningful but the biggest game of the thing is meaningless outside of "Two guys get 500K", in the NBA that doesn't really mean shit You could have at the very least made the championship count towards a record too, just feels like it falls apart at the end, and if it don't matter towards records you know some teams are gonna sit guys out, why wouldn't they?? |

Was he drunk when he put this together? Seriously. You know it's a needlessly convoluted tournament when the official NBA Instagram page devoted a 105-second video of Richard Jefferson explaining it. I know those who are defending this ridiculous in-season tournament (and they are few and far between) are saying it's akin to the FA Cup or Champions League in international soccer. Except those are tournaments separate from the Champions League season and involve clubs from leagues around the world. If this tournament also included Euroleague teams, then it would at least have some logic to it. This would be like the Champions League deciding mid-season that they're going to have all 20 teams play in a tournament that will ultimately have no bearing on who hoists the trophy at season's end. |

The In-season tournament should be for an NBA Money in the Bank contract. Imagine Denver celebrating a championship at the end of the season and LeBron walking out of the tunnel in his gear with the briefcase. Book it, Adam!

I know every team thinks this about their high picks, but it seems the Kings think KEEGAN has franchise player level talent. More upside than anyone on their roster.
Kind of explains the RUN IT BACK mentality if they think Keegan’s about to take an huge jump next season.

Kind of explains the RUN IT BACK mentality if they think Keegan’s about to take an huge jump next season. We’ll see. And why they didn’t pay out the ass for someone like Kuzma as it looks like they want Keegan to take his next offensive step Teams already have to guard him on the 3. If he can now use that skill to get ahead in the paint that will bode well for him. Like I said before I think he’s like Mikal Bridges where his offensive games goes from productive to really good |
