A great show that unfortunately kinda went on longer than it should. They should have kept the original ending of series 6 and then finished it off with a final series or TV/movie special.

I enjoy series seven, I thought that could have been a good point to end, it felt like it had something to prove without Rob, and it also helped it had other writers besides just Doug. The only stinkers in that series were 'Duct Soup' and the finale two parter.

Wonder what this means for the Dave run going forward. As much as The Beginning was the perfect sendoff for the show, the last few series have been great and always happy to see more of the Dwarfers.

I think what annoyed me was that season 6 originally ended with Rimmer's redemption. Instead of being the coward, he rallyed the crew up to fight even though he knew death was ensured and surrender would have meant they lived. Then when he was the last one standing, he saved the day and was actually very modest and embarrassed about the rest of the team praising him.
Then the BBC changed the ending and shat all over it.

its on there now, series 1-8, 10- the promised land. only thing missing is back to earth (the blade runner rip off episodes.) which may be down to the inclusion of itv's coronation street set/actors/branding or it being in a mini-universe of its own that doesn't impact the rest of the series in any way.

I would assume it's the coronation street copyright/ not wanting to advertise ITV that's hindered it's inclusion and I completely get why

A pity. BTE is the only one that actually bothers addressing the fate of post-VI Kochanski. Series ten had a brief subplot where Lister searched for her, but they ultimately just dropped it completely.

I think they mentioned that Kryten told Lister that she died but she had just left to go live somewhere in one of the more recent series (after series 10).

Kryten told Lister she had ran off in Back to Earth, Lister vowed he'd get her back at the end of it. In series ten they briefly played around with stories where they try to find her, but after series ten they dropped it.

Glad I got the original run on DVD. Now time to get the new stuff.
Hey BBC bring back Blake's 7 and The Young Ones. Or release them in Region 1 on nice uncut blu rays.

I agree with both of your first two comments. Series 6 would have been a perfect cliffhanger ending and then a full length episode, but...it all changed with offscreen dramas and was never the same.

Yeah, the last few seasons on Dave have been pretty good. Not at the level of seasons 1-6, but way better than anything else. I'd happily watch more seasons of it.

Don't you have a US version....? You mean this? We do not speak of it. Mad how some of the jokes are word for word the same but fall flat in a different accent. Same thing would happen in reverse; imagine some of Jerry, Elaine & Georges trademark lines delivered by a cockney/scouse/home counties accented actor - toe curlingly cringe it would be. Makes it all the more impressive that the US Office was able to develop its own unique identity and style of humor.
