Ambrose (the heel) had the girls laughing at him (the face). You can't win when the girls laugh at ya lol. I don't know about that...I mean making her laugh is what led to my wife becoming more than just a friend. This was the only shot I had with my wife. LOL

EC3 got over by being a mouthy entitled jerk. WWE wouldn't let him be mouthy AND made him a face. Then when he wasn't getting cheered over the much more established and interesting Dean Ambrose, they gave up on him.

EC3's is a pretty mediocre wrestler... but his bread and butter was his character and mic work... as seen as Derrick Bateman and his run in Impact...
so of course when he gets to the main roster... he is completely mute and never says a word.
Which is not only not playing to his strengths it's legitimately playing to his weaknesses

It's pretty clear why the character failed. The question is, why was he that character. Theory 1 of it being spite or revenge or a combination of both has been discussed. Theory 2 is that it was Vince being Vince, believing that his ideas are so great, he can get anyone over with a character of his creation - the kid got over in TNA with his talking, well I'm going to make him a mute and he'll be a bigger star than ever before - that's some good shit.

I remember being a fan of him in TNA before I stopped watching in 2014. I was thrilled when he signed to WWE, but it quickly went away even when he was on NXT.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a failed run just break someone’s brain like it did with EC3.

He never got the slightest chance. WWE deliberately tanked him.

Didn't Meltzer give that ladder match he was in (during NXT) 5 stars? Because that's wild.

And to think there were people on the internet and certain HOFers (cough Ric cough) who used to claim with a straight face the lie that Scott Hall was merely in the presence of Shawn Michaels wrestling a ladder at WrestleMania X.

if this man sees nothing in you as a wrestler, he gives you absolutely nothing to work with to prove him wrong. in the past there would be people who would argue the wrestlers case on what their strengths were and how to get them to where they needed to be to make money with but as time went on vince got rid of those people and replaced them with yes men who agreed with everything vince said or thought.

Just like Daniel Bryan, when I first saw Bateman I thought of the great city of Tulsa, Oklahoma and if he weren’t a pro wrestler he could be the next Steve Blackman. He worked on chicks + America but it just wasn’t enough so EC3 didn’t stand a chance.

Because the rating for RAW tanked so Vince pointed to a bunch of NXT wrestlers and said "Call them up."
That's all the thought that went into it.

I'm surprised they've managed to stick to their "no automatic rematches" commitment given the fact the shows used to generally piss in the face of continuity and obeying its own rules for shits and giggles. Granted, it just means they've to book a qualifier for a rematch, but still........
