What would it be? I’d say Eddie overcoming his addictions, returning and then beating Brock Lesnar for the wwe championship and going into mania as a world champ when even a month prior that shit was unthinkable

Daniel Bryan being th B+ player to essentially defeating the entirety of Evolution in one night is my personal favorite. Honorable mention to Kofi finally getting his due as well…

Steve Austin. For all the crap he dealt with from promoters and getting sub par gimmicks.

Mankind's title win vs The Rock might have the most legendary status for this, not just because on its own it was an amazing underdog win, but WCW thought it would chase viewers away from WWF if they reported on it due to it being a taped event, and it ended up being one of their biggest documented mistakes in the Wars.

It’s Daniel Bryan for me. An underdog both in the storyline vs the authority and back stage given he wasn’t the original plan for WM30. The most dramatic example of the fans directly influencing a change in the booking of a show I have ever seen.

Daniel Bryan beating Evolution in one night. Just that whole underdog Story against The Authority truly felt like the last great WWE Feud that went longer.

It's still Daniel Bryan for me. His promo the next night on Raw was the first "you deserve it" chant and made me genuinely emotional.

Foley. That dude was the antithesis of everything that Vince stood for and looked for in a champion.

Somewhere out in the multiverse the answer to this question is: When Santino won the 2011 Rumble and it's aftermath

Somewhere out in the multiverse the answer to this question is: When Santino the 2011 Rumble and it's aftermath I always wanted a story where someone "undeserving" wins the Rumble. Either a comedy character like Santino, or one of the old-timer nostalgia entrants. Then, lead up to Wrestlemania is Vince telling them they can't main event Wrestlemania because the event will be ruined with a joke main event...but, the winner won't decline his dream match. Vince's hands are tied. So, every week in the lead up Vince schemes to take them out. It gets progressively more malevolent. I guess this is similar to the Daniel Bryan story, but Bryan was actually good. I want more of a no-hoper to finally get the big match.
Anyway...My favorite was underdog story was Kofimania.

Foley. That dude was the antithesis of everything that Vince stood for and looked for in a champion. Something really telling has been listening to both JR and Foley's podcasts where both straight up admit that Vince only signed Mick to, and this isn't a direct quote but something akin to it, "break JR's heart" once this guy he hyped up so heavily flopped. So...because Vince was a dumb stubborn asshole who liked to see others unhappy, he wound up getting one of the biggest stars he ever had. Talk about dumb luck.

Somewhere out in the multiverse the answer to this question is: When Santino won the 2011 Rumble and it's aftermath Me and one of my friends talk about this all the time. Santino should have won and for the rest of time WWE can say “ANYONE can win the Rumble! Look this guy did it! The guy with the fastest elimination ever!” In hindsight he absolutely should have won. They were trying to make Del Rio and in the end it was honestly a waste of time and he didn’t even become Champ at Mania anyway.

It's between Mick Foley's title win in 1999 and Daniel Bryan's WrestleMania 30 win. It's hard for me to pick between the two of them.

Foley. Easily.
Honourable mention to James Elsworth, random jobber to beating AJ Styles was quite the journey. Just a shame about everything after that fued.
I know I'm in a minority but I'll never agree with multiple time world champion Daniel Bryan being an underdog or it being a good coherent week to week story. Off screen meta story and individual moments were good though.
