With the "darker" sides of fandom sadly rearing their ugly heads, would a remake of "Misery" be more relevant in this day and age?

They put on a Broadway stage play version a few years ago and it was praised. Think it even won a few Tonys.
A more current day retelling of it dealing with obsessive Internet fandom would easily work, especially with how easily the Internet can enable parasocial relationships.

The remake would star me kidnapping the Pokemon anime director that pushed AshxSerena over AshxMisty. & then I'd come back for the sequel holding Sega hostage until they bring back Sally Acorn.

Picturing her providing him access to an iPad and insisting he blog a novel that's more to her liking, and him trying to get hints out to fans about his situation.

Maybe give it some kind of slant where the fan has misinterpreted the creator's work into something that validates their world view, then goes nuts when they find out they were wrong and is determined to force the person to put out something new that 'corrects' their mistake.
