Great moment.
That really should have been THE moment that guys like Hogan, Savage and Flair stepped out of the title picture permanently and let guys like Goldberg, DDP, Bret, Nash, Steiner, Benoit, Booker, Hall and Raven run the main event.

1998 is the pinnacle of 90s wrestling entertainment for me, and this moment may be the crown jewel of that year.

I think people forget that in the summer of 1998, Goldberg was absolutely as over as anybody in the entire history of the medium of wrestling has ever been.
You don't get more over than Goldberg in '98. You can get *as* over like Austin, Rock, Hogan, George, etc. - but Goldberg in '98 was the epitome of wrestling megastar.

I was actually at the Raw that aired opposite this episode. It was taped the week before, 2 nights after the KOTR with the Taker/Foley cell match. Even at the top of the arena, you could tell just walking was a heroic feat for Foley. It also had the DX Nation parody which has thankfully been scrubbed from history. And then I watched the episode the next week to see how it was different live and on TV (The Nation did a run-in after the parody live btw).
Anyway, that’s the convoluted way of saying I’ve never actually seen this match. Just clips of the ending.

WCW’s finest hour in the Monday Night Wars. Makes you wonder what could’ve been if they had done other big moments as perfectly as they did this.
Still remember watching it live with my cousins, good times.
