I love that Punk put over Starks, which people here swore up and down was 1000% never going to happen and is easily the biggest win of Starks' career, but oh noes Punk Bad. Starks hasn't had direction as a babyface for awhile, and while this wasn't the only way to move forward from that, it's still moving forward. Starks is going to have more screentime, more focus, now has a huge win under his belt and an accolade he can use for heat if he wants. None of that is bad for him.
I'm really, really tired of Ruby losing every big match, and this was clean and decisive too. If I thought this was a story I'd be less unhappy with it, but I have no faith in that whatsoever after last year. She deserves better for singlehandedly salvaging the wretched Outcasts plotline into something resembling watchability.
With that being said, I'm not unhappy for Willow, and by giving the accolades to people who actually could use them, this year's Owen was already far better than the dire mess from last year. The Owen Hart tournament should've always been conceived as giving a chance for somebody to shine and possibly reach the next level. Let's see how Starks and Willow do.
The tag match was really good, though I think last week's still remains my favourite. It certainly does a lot to reinvigorate FTR's title run, which hadn't had much in the way if title feuds and defences up until now. I'm not a huge fan of how they made Jay White practically superhuman while Juice keeps letting the team down like a schmuck. At least he got the win last time, I guess. I assume White is tapped for big things soon with how protected he was in that match and how many finishers he kicked out of.
Quibbles aside, 9 for what was still an amazing tag match, a good women's match even if I would've preferred a different ending, and the unexpected but welcome shock of Starks beating Punk.
