I’ve seen the Botchamania video doing the rounds of Gable getting booed but not the whole match itself. Was there a botch that turned the crowd or were they against him from the start? Against him from the start. Even ignoring the sexual assault being swept under the rug, he's bland. There's not much charisma, or presence, no character outside of good amateur wrestler, and he doesn't have a killer look to cover that up. Angle had charisma, presence, and the character of self-righteous "face" but was actually a heel. Brock had all of it, and the look that he would straight up kill you if you even stepped on his foot by accident. And he's the chosen one. It took a few months for Angle to get going.

I don't know.... I remember really feeling like Angle was going to be a big deal eventually from the start of his run in WWE. I didn't think it would be right away, but he just felt like he got it almost immediately.

Constantly admonishing crowds because they wouldn't cheer him, and it took no time before crowds started to cheer him because he was entertaining.

Hadn't there long been reports that Steveson was really struggling in training like back when they signed him? Maybe I'm misremembering but I could have sworn that there were rumblings that WWE was shocked and underwhelmed with how poorly training was going

Angle was shockingly ready for main TV early on. His ppv debut has the self assurance of a vet. They started him slow with jobbers or jtts Steve Blackman but within a month they already had him interacting with HHH and Steph because he was already getting over. This helped Tazzs debut be even bigger, that someone had finally shown up to shut up Angle.
He had a match with Jericho in march 2020 where even I was like wow this guy is getting great very quickly.
Just a complete prodigy. Once in a lifetime event.
Owen helped train him briefly. You can tell.f

lol this probably just means that’s he’s going to Raw or something. Wasn’t he a Raw draft pick anyways?
I doubt that they outright cut him. He pulled out of the Amateur Wrestling World Championships earlier this week with the speculation being that he’s focusing on WWE.

That was fantastic and he wasn't pinned for either title so you knew they were sort of protecting him. His reactions to losing without being pinned were great!

I never heard that he was quitting the WWE last year just that they were going to let him do NCAAs and World Championship and potentially the Olympics before he came in. Who knows?

He worked a live event tonight against Dante Chen. It’s what he should’ve been doing the entire f***ing time. Work the loop, get experience, get good. Instead of basically being pencilled in as a main roster guy as soon as he was available.
