Would have been better suited to just put him in a tag team with someone at the time.

Incredibly over, even during his feud with Ted Dibiase is a HUGE overstatement. The reason why he was getting pops was because Ted Dibiase was a heat machine, and as mentioned in this thread, it was a culmination of him finally standing up to Dibiase after all those years of abuse. Piper's endorsement also helped. Now, as far as what to do with Virgil after the Dibiase feud is over, someone suggested that they could've had him in an underdog role. Have him get some wins over lowercard name talent, while putting up a good fight against monsters(such as Sid), only to come up short, that way he dosen't look like a total scrub that he became. It might've not worked, but it would've been better than how he was used IRL. That’s basically literally what they did with him. We only can argue about “good fight”. Did he ever have any wins though? Well I guess you could say he did during that eight man tag at Wrestlemania VIII when he scored the pinfall for his team, but other than that, he became a straight up JTTS. He fell victim to monsters such as Nailz and then Yokozuna. I think he might've had a mini-feud with Repo Man and a win over Bastion Booger(who he lost back to the next week), but was mainly regulated to Superstars and RAW for all of 1993 and 1994, only making PPV appearances for the Royal Rumble(he replaced Kamala in the 1994 one). By the end of his run, it looked like he was going to start a feud with Million Dollar Corporation lackey Nikolai Volkoff, but then he was released, so nothing really came out of it. I just don't see where or how he could've been built as a credible underdog.

He was too small, no charisma. Still awesome in his role, though. Also, Virgilina was the best thing he ever did I have zero recollection of this and no idea what/who Virgilina is

I wonder if he even came out to entrance music anymore or was just given a total jobber entrance for the crowd. He was out of it for most of that tag match. But someone noted it was because he didn't want to face Samu and Fatu because they were too stiff. Makes sense. They brutalized Ray Odyssey in one of his early matches because he said he would call the match. Bloodying Red's lip was probably accident (from the rope move) but I doubt Fatu did anything to try and protect him. I wonder if the respect people have for the family is more fear rather than respect.

Unless he did Virgil things to the family and then yeah, he was probably terrified.

Thanks to this thread I had a crazy dream about Virgil the other day. The setting was Wrestlemania X and would have a battle royal to determine another challenger for Yokozuna at the PPV. Virgil came out to his song and hammed it up to the crowd which pissed off the other wrestlers. It had Bam Bam and for some reason Yokozuna, also in the match, destroying Virgil in the end.

They should’ve just hyped up the size of his hog to get him over after the DiBiase feud ended

One of the things that sticks out the most from the later part of that run is his victory over Bastion Booger in Boogers TV debut.
I dont know what they expected from Shaw or that absurd character...but having him lose his first match like that is not exactly equipping him for success going forward.

Blake Beverly around the same time. Prior to that there was Jim Brunzell and Jim Powers who had been featured wrestlers and then demoted to jobbers.
