Here are my NXT Thoughts:
Wow. Tiffany Stratton VS Kiana James was way too short but was OK and nothing special. Good promo by Becky Lynch. It will be awesome to see her back on NXT next week. FACT: This was Tiffany Stratton's 3rd Women's Championship Defense, so if she would have lost, she would have been the 1st since Roxanne Perez who lost to Indi Hartwell at Stand & Deliver on 4/1/23 to lose in her 3rd Defense. As of NXT, Stratton's Women's Championship Reign has lasted 100 Days, which is the 4rd Shortest Reign ahead of Indi Hartwell (4/1/23-5/2/23, 31 Days), Charlotte Flair's 2nd Reign (4/5/20-6/7/20, 63 Days), & Kairi Sane (8/18/18-10/28/18, 71 Days). If James would have won, she would have been the 7th 1st time Champ in a row & 4th to be a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion after Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez, & Io Shirai
Another interesting confrontation between Carmelo Hayes & Wes Lee.
OK segment with The Creed Brothers & Ivy Nile, Tony D'Angelo & Channing Lorenzo, & Malik Blade & Edris Enofe.
It's official, Becky Lynch will be back on NXT to wrestle Tiffany Stratton for the Women's Championship. This will be Becky's 1st match on NXT since she wrestled Rhea Ripley to a No Contest on 11/20/19 & her 1st NXT Women's Championship Match since she lost to Sasha Banks at Takeover: Unstoppable on 5/20/15.
Ilja Dragunov VS Oro Mensah was an awesome match. Dragunov should be part of the Global Heritage Invitational. I would love to see him VS Noam Dar in a Heritage Cup Championship Match. FACT: This was Oro Menah's 1st NXT since he defeated Eddy Thorpe on 7/18 & the 1st ever match on NXT between a former NXT UK Champion & NXT UK Tag Team Champion.
Nevermind, Ilja Dragunov still wants the NXT Championship & so does Wes Lee. I love Lee VS Dragunov next week, but I think a Triple Threat with them VS Carmelo Hayes will be amazing at No Mercy.
OK segment with Dominic Mysterio.
Good promo by Nathan Frazer.
Alright segment with Thea Hail, Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin, & Blair Davenport to set-up Hail VS Dolin later.
I love that for the 1st time ever, NXT Level Up footage was shown on NXT.
Damn, Nathan Frazer VS Duke Hudson was way too short. But it was good anyway. FACT: This was Duke Hudson's 1st 1-on-1 Match on NXT since he defeated Javier Bernal on 5/9/23.
Damn, again Akira Tozawa will be on Level Up. Why can't he be on NXT? And again he's going to be on Main Event & Level Up in the same week.
OK Segment with all of the tag teams & SCRYPTS introducing Bronco Nima & Lucien Price to The Creed Brothers.
Tyler Bate VS Dabba-Kato was short & sweet. Bate really is a Big Strong Boi lifting Dabba-Kato up like that. FACT: This was Dabba-Kato's 1st match since he lost to Axiom & SCRYPTS on 6/13 & 1st 1-on-1 since he lost to SCRYPTS on 6/6.
Interesting face-off between Dominik Mysterio & Carmelo Hayes.
OK segment with Roxanne Perez & Kiana James & their brawl.
OK promo by Baron Corbin.
A nothing segment with Tiffany Stratton.
Mustafa Ali VS Dragon Lee was an excellent match. Dominik Mysterio was pretty good as a Referee until he screwed Lee. Booker T almost got laid out. I think they should move the table a little bit. I like Ali not liking what Mysterio did. FACT: Dominik Mysterio was the 1st Special Guest Referee on NXT since Ali was referee for Wes Lee VS Tyler Bate on 6/20 & Dominik is the 1st Mysterio to be a Special Guest Referee as Rey has never been a Special Guest Referee in his Career.
Interesting conversation with Trick Williams & Ilja Dragunov.
Yes, Myles Borne will be on NXT next week. The people that do not watch Level Up will finally see how awesome he is.
OK promo with Eddy Thorpe.
Axiom VS Butch was incredible. I love the Time Limit Draw as it's part of the rules of the match & not every match has to have a winner. I can't wait to see what happens next in the Global Heritage Invitational. FACT: This is the 1st time since he defeated Draco Anthony & Tony D'Angelo on 2/8 & 2/15/22 that Butch wrestled 2 weeks in a row on NXT. With this match, Axiom has now wrestled every NXT UK Champion (Tyler Bate (2/6/20 UK, 12/10/20 UK, 5/20/21 UK, 1/31/23 NXT), Ilja Dragunov (10/14/21 UK), & GUNTHER/WALTER 1/14/21 UK). It was the 1st match between 1-named male wrestlers in NXT since SCRYPTS VS Dabba-Kato on 6/6.
Fun promo by Von Wagner. I still think that he should be wrestling Bron Breakker in a Tables Match tonight.
Interesting confrontation with Tony D'Angelo & Channing Lorenzo & Angel & Humberto. BTW, wasn't Angel & Humberto supposed to wrestle tonight? I thought that's what they said last week. But I love the brawl. I guess we're getting a Tag Team Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contenders.
Gigi Dolin VS Thea Hail wasn't anything special. I don't know if I like this version of Thea. FACT: This was the 34th week in a row that NXT had 2 Women's Matches. This was Gigi Dolin's 1st 1-on-1 Match on NXT since she lost to Kiana James on 7/18.
I liked Ivy Nile coming back to The Diamond Mine like a Mom coming home from work & her sons messed up the house because they were wrestling.
What Complete BS. Last week was Kelani Jordan's 10th match, not 4th. They mentioned Level Up earlier, but completely ignore someone's matches there. Lyra Valkyria VS Dana Brooke could be OK.
Next week will awesome with Lynch VS Stratton, Lee VS Dragunov, Creeds VS Blade & Enofe, & 2 Global Heritage Invitational Matches in Bate VS Axiom & Frazer VS Tozawa, as finally Tozawa wrestles on NXT.
Von Wagner VS Bron Breakker was a fun No DQ Match. They destroyed each other. Baron Corbin was pretty good on commentary. I like how it ended with Breakker hitting Wagner with the steps, but we didn't see what happened. I guess we have to wait for next week. FACT: This will be both Wagner & Breakker's 1st ever No Disqualification Match in their Careers & was their 3rd match against each other after NXT on 11/15/22 & 8/8/23, which were both won by Breakker. Wagner is the 1st Bloom to wrestle in a No DQ Match as his dad never wrestled in one, but Rick Steiner has wrestled in several, so Bron isn't the first of his family to wrestle in a No DQ Match.
