I thought MJF’s first insults being kind of lame was the point. It came across to me that he was deflecting and trying to act like Joe wasn’t in his head but was failing. I'm inclined to think that's the case, yeah. MJF sometimes misfires, but I do think he knows what he's doing more often than not.

The fat jokes remind me of when he tried to get "Punky Brewster" over against Punk

This made me think that while Joe has more physical charisma than just about anyone, and he has a great voice, he’s not the most natural talker. Still hyped for this mini-feud, and it was a good start. But it felt like they tried to do something like Punk/MJF, and it just wasn’t clicking. I’m inclined to think that’s the case, yeah. MJF sometimes misfires, but I do think he knows what he’s doing more often than not. MJF was kind of crying by the end of it. It’s definitely intentional that he wants to seem like a kid compared to Joe. More to overcome.

"Let's start a tournament by telling you flat out who's winning it," is just such a bizarrely consistent trend in AEW that it has to be deliberate and I don't remotely understand it.

I was initially excited with what happened at All Out. But that promo went way too long, and kinda killed my buzz with how lame it got.

That was exactly the point of it; Joe brushed off the lame fat jokes, insisted on "What's the problem, kid?", and MJF nearly took the bait because, yeah, he is angry at Joe but also knows it's likely a death wish to play Joe's games. Now, the execution of it all? I agree it went too long. I like a lot of what they were doing/intended to do, but it could've stood to be trimmed down by a couple minutes. That said, I was all in on Joe running back out just to call him a bitch, especially since it went right into "ADAAAAAAM!", like MJF and Cole are just completely beset right now.

Yeah some people really don't give credit to how fleshed out MJF's character is. His whole edge lord/"low hanging fruit" schtick is a defense mechanism to deal with being insecure, which makes sense in this instance considering what happened between him and Joe way back in the day. I also think it's real AEW-ish (in a good way) to base an angle around something they don't actually own the footage to, but they still believe enough of the audience knows what they're talking about for it to work.

This isn't going to go to a PPV, it's probably just building to the title match at Grand Slam. I wouldn't be surprised if Joe is getting this match and this focus as a thank you for being the adult in the room at All In. If the rumors are true and he did help to diffuse the situation and ensure that the Punk match went ahead as planned, I'd probably give him a title match too. SRS said yesterday that Joe was always going to get a program with MJF the question was just when. Did mention multiple things changed timing as SRS had heard even a month ago MJF/Joe was pitched as the main event for All Out

Loved the segment, sure it could have been a couple minutes shorter, but it got it's point across. Also, more Joe on my TV can only be a good thing.

I thought it was an entertaining segment, even if it ran a bit long in the middle.
I can see Joe vs. MJF for the main event of the next PPV as I feel like MJF has to get Roddy out of the way as a challenger first.

You can easily do the title change and people won't mind Joe having the title.
You could recreate Survivor Series 94, where Roddy convinces Adam Cole to throw in the towel. MJF's neck has been mentioned.
You can have Joe tear it up with the title for a couple of months where MJF comes to terms with things and deals with Roddy and Cole.
Then schedule an event for Long Island and do the rematch. Pretty sure that Winter Is Coming hasn't got a venue yet.
On a different topic, if they turned Joe face, he'll be one of the most over Babyfaces in the company

I think the way it works in the real world (but I assume rules vary by organization/state) is that throwing in the towel is a plea to the referee to stop the match, and then it is the referee's discretion (which is usually but not always deferential to the corner man's judgment)

I want Roderick Strong to team up with Joe against Better Than You BayBay because it'd be hilarious.
Cole: "Roddy, you know HE'S the one who injured your neck, right?"

Joe was always fine, he could get the job done, but in recent years he's become absolutely top tier on the mic. I think it started with the Brock/Heyman feud and continued from there.
He could main event anywhere. I don't think anyone would object to him holding a AEW/WWE/IWGP world title. With his injury history though I think he's seen as a dominate the upper-midcard/lose the real high profile matches spot though so I'm not sure I see him beating MJF.

For me, Joe is like Asuka in that he's neither a heel nor a face, he's just Samoa Joe. And sometimes he works with heels and sometimes he works with faces.

I’m more invested in MJF right now than ever. And I’ve just been loving Joe’s little run. So yeah I’m all about this.

If Joe/MJF happens at Arthur Ashe I'll be shamelessly marking out like a child if Joe wins. MJF's been awesome, but us OG ROHbots gonna do what we gonna do.
