I’ve seen Yoko do much more devastating Banzai Drops than Nia’s, especially to jobbers. Rikishi would also sometimes do the Banzai mid ring, landing on people’s chests with his feet out and no cushion.

I don't think we should be treating anyone like early 90's jobbers were treated, let alone one of the top talent on the roster. I think what happened 30 years ago, whether it be Yoko doing the move right or wrong, doesn't have a lot of importance to what happened to Ripley except to show that the move can be done correctly by someone much larger than her.

Her sitting on Ripley didn’t look particularly crushing, it looked similar to the way Rikishi would do the mid-ring sit down on the opponents chest (as opposed to the linked Yoko banzai where he sat on the guys throat with all his weight.

If she needs to maintain contact with the top rope though, I think the issue might be that Nia might not be tall enough to pull it off as she’ll need to maintain contact with the top rope all the way into the seated position, which might not be possible. Either that or the opponent will need to be a lot closer to the corner than Rhea was.

My point is that anything resembling what Nia did is incredibly reckless, and that comparing it to other reckless moves doesn't really change anything in my mind.

If Nia isn't tall enough you'd think they would have had her do the move once or twice to make sure she can do it first, if the issue is that Rhea wasn't near enough to the corner then Nia should have pulled her closer since she pulled her to setup the move.

Rhea/Raquel aren't actually hurt (Rhea's back in Australia, most likely to help announce the Perth PLE), but yes, they did have Nia lay them both out last week, then single-handedly destroy Shayna/Zoey/Piper/Chelsea this week. It's bizarre booking taking all these women who (save for Chelsea) have been built up over a long time and having Nia make them all look weak, especially when she's so boring as a character:
