Last night I read that Jaxson Ryker had retired from wrestling and became a sheriff. Good for him. I am glad that he has another career to fall back on. However, I started remembering the Forgotten Sons. Kind of ironic, huh?
Anyway, I recall putting it on Money in the Bank 2020 at some point and saw these guys come out. I was like "who are they?" I was actively watching from late-2019 up to that point, yet in the earlier parts of the PC days, I wasn't doing it as regularly. I mean in the spring of 2020. I know they disbanded not long after getting called up to the main roster but these guys feel like a fever dream.
I have to say that these guys lived up to their name.

It turns out Steve Cutler (Maclin) is pretty awesome.

Ryker sucked in every f***ing way, but the other two weren't bad and I kinda felt bad for them that they were punished along with him. They had an old school southern wrasslin' vibe to them even though I know one of them was from NJ.

f***ing Gunner becoming a cop is the most fitting and hilarious thing imaginable As a wrestler, he's the worst to ever do it. And now, him especially becoming a sheriff in North Carolina is so on-the-nose. (For the unaware, NC makes national news inordinately frequently for sheriffs either being accused of racially insensitive remarks or having to resign due to making racially insensitive remarks.)

Guy was legit a hot NC Indy talent when he went by Timber…back when I’d be at shows with John Skyler who has said some questionable shit himself…

It turns out Steve Cutler (Maclin) is pretty awesome. He’s been killing it on Impact, and has been anything but forgotten.

It turns out Steve Cutler (Maclin) is pretty awesome. Dude legit became one of the hottest acts outside of AEW/WWE, became Impact champ, but then got injured... as did Josh Alexander as their match likely would have done a very good number for Impact

I remember their theme song being fittingly awful as well.
And as always, f*** Gunner.

I always had a soft spot for Wesley Blake because I loved BAMF in NXT 1.0. Never sat right with me that he and Cutler took the L for f***ing Gunner's bullshit, though I am glad the latter is killing it in Impact Wrestling as Steve Maclin. f***ing Gunner becoming a cop is the most fitting and hilarious thing imaginable Can I just say that I find the idea of f***ing Gunner as an armed police office horrifying, even without the potential impairments to judgment that come with getting dropped on your head on a nightly basis for two decades?

I actually used to like Gunner in IMPACT.
But these days I'm incredibly concerned for the citizens of whatever county he's a sheriff of.

I stand by my opinion that the Blake/Cutler team weren’t far off of being something good. There’s a match they have with Imperium on NXT that only goes five minutes, but dammit if it isn’t one of my favourite short matches ever.

Blake and Cutler rocked. They had multiple bangers, and every time people were like “These guys don’t suck!”

It cannot be understated the absolute tear of a run Steve Maclin/Cutler has been on in the past year or so, even if his Impact title reign ended up being shorter than expected. Anything but forgotten at this point.
Westin Blake probably is capable of such a run, but sadly, I don't know if it's in the cards considering the absolute tragedy his family went through with the passing of Sara Lee.
f*** Gunner, the thought of him having a badge is both scary and on brand.

There was another good one between them and GYV from around that same time:

It turns out Steve Cutler (Maclin) is pretty awesome. He was the worst recipient of all this. He was in Developmental hell about as long as Angelo Dawkins was, and he worked his ass off to stay employed and get a big break And that shit had to be it. F***ing sucks for him, ad Westley Blake tbh, it was DOA. Glad Maclin's killing it elsewhere.
