I rewatched the film about a year ago. If there's ever a "movie carried by one actor" thread that has to be up there. Costner and Slater couldn't do the accent and Morgan Freeman seemed bored the whole film. Alan Rickman carried the whole thing. Apparently, Costner locked himself in the editing suite and got out the scissors when he saw Rickman's finished performance to avoid being too unstaged. Right, the tree. Absolutely nothing will happen to a 16-year-old, maybe a modest fine but no criminal record, no prison, and not even a name in the papers so it's a son or grandson of whichever angry old farmer cut it down taking the fall. I'm reminded of this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Namdaemun_fire some old fella destroyed a cultural landmark simply because he was angry. A 60 year old has been arrested now too. I suspect the 60 year old tried to get his kid/grandson to take the fall expecting he'd get a slap on the wrist. Well what a c***.

Is it the same Sycamore tree that Zachchaeus climbed up in? He was a wee little man and a wee little man was he.
There, I knew my random knowledge of an obscure sunday school song would one day pay off!

I love that the person responsible has been elevated into that special group of general everyday people so loathed by the British public, that they even overshadow Politicians on the hate scale. Cat bin lady, you have a new person to add to your WhatsApp group! Everyone hates a jerk more than a villain

Some lady got caught on a camera picking a cat up by the tail and dumping it into a bin. The ENTIRE country was out for blood.

My Alma mater has a Statue that is right beside a bus stop. People sometimes dress it up. I did not realize how beloved it was until it was vandalized and torn down. It has since been repaired but I've never seen my city so united. Everyone was pissed.

This still ranks below Lisa vandalising Skinner's puma.

His daughter-in-law can be as furious as she wants. What is known is:
a) He was recently evicted from the land after losing a lengthy court battle, b) Was a lumberjack, and c) Gave his professional opinion of the vandalism in the tabloids ("The cut was brilliant... you can tell a good lumberjack by the way he cuts a tree down. I haven’t seen the cut obviously, but I have seen it on the computer.")
Of course the police are going to question him.
Fortunately, it's possible that the tree may have survived.
