AEW is a lot more giving to partner promotions than WWE is, that's for sure. Letting essentially their top female star lose clean to La Catalina is a show of goodwill and doesn't hurt much because American fans tend not to pay attention to CMLL. On the other hand, perhaps AEW could make a thing of this to create a challenger for Mariah or Mercedes in the form of La Catalina.
If promoted right, I also think Hologram beating Mistico at a major event next year could be great for Hologram, particularly as it'd be airing on FOX Sports Mexico. Mistico doesn't lose much but CMLL allows him to in the right situation (he lost to Hiromu Takahashi at NJPW KOPW last week).
BTW, this show with Toni vs. La Catalina did CMLL's best Friday night attendance in weeks. Four of the six matches were women's bouts.

I'm all for Toni vs. Mariah II at the Australia show, but it really shouldn't be for the title. Toni's been champ for what feels like 90% of her AEW run (I've enjoyed all of her reigns, but still).
