Aldis: “Smackdown will be different under my watch.” (Aldis minutes later grants Charlotte yet another title match). Like Adam Pearce before him, talking about how "opportunities are earned around here" and just handing out title shots to people. Not to mention just letting The Bloodline do whatever the hell they want.

Hopefully this leads to Mickie coming back and having her last rodeo on the big stage. Given how her last WWE run was treated, eh.

This just feels like a very "picked a name out of a hat" kind of hire.

This just feels like a very "picked a name out of a hat" kind of hire. He’s apparently been working backstage as an agent for a bit so he must’ve got his foot in the door that way and now got an on-screen role. I assume he’s hoping to segue that into becoming a wrestler again given his age.

“Dom I’m a big fan!…..of your dad”
That line got me. I’m interested to see how this goes and Aldis being in WWE is long overdue.

Newsz site are reporting that Mickie was apparently pitched to come in with him as co-GM, but she said not right now as she has commitments to Impact.
But maybe that means she'll show up eventually.

What has Adam Pearce done to deserve a "promotion" in kayfabe? This bozo can't even manage a Target. Over the years, I've seen a lot of people get promoted "out of the way" so that they do less damage. This is one of the most believable things I've ever seen in wrestling.

Honestly, as Error said, the logic of a new GM for Smackdown makes sense and his example was a great one. Who did the trade for Jey Uso to Raw? Adam Pearce? Why would he be remotely interested in agreeing to that? Who did he trade for? Like, we figured it’s Cody but it still feels like something that could be done with someone on another show to put over that deals can be done unless you’re committing to Adam Pearce talking in a mirror to himself for every match involving Raw and Smackdown talent. And there are many examples where things would be more ironed out with another GM because they’re still committed to that idea and instead having us believe one guy would hurt one brand to benefit another just because. Would I pick Aldis? He can talk well enough and he’s in the company anyway and out of the agents they have, he probably is the only one with any look of authority so sure. Who else would we have in that spot? Billy Kidman? Why would Adam Pearce be interested in agreeing to trade Jey Uso to Raw? He said he was quitting Smackdown and the WWE. He gets him back in the WWE by trading him to Raw. We all figured it was Cody, but Aldis's first move as Smackdown GM was to announce who he had traded in exchange, and it was Kevin Owens. It makes sense. KO feels like he needs freshening up, and a heel turn seems the best way, and it would give LA Knight a main event level guy to feud with to help establish him at that level. It also says that this is the level they see Jey Uso at.

It’s kinda clear Cody vs. Roman is still the match for Mania 40, especially after the staredown, so it’s interesting they’re giving us a lot of forks on the road to that match.

Because that might be interesting and Cody could have said something further about it being something to be determined later but it didn’t seem like it was. Again, I could be entirely wrong but if they did that as the story, sure, that’s cool. But it’s also why another GM would have been beneficial because you’d have two characters building their rosters and going with the best option. It still kind of feels flimsy to me. It’s kinda clear Cody vs. Roman is still the match for Mania 40, especially after the staredown, so it’s interesting they’re giving us a lot of forks on the road to that match. I mean, there’s still almost half a year left before the match itself so you might as well establish that stuff now because you have those narratives to build.

Nick Aldis and Mickie James replicating the McMahon-Helmsley regime in 2024 is something I can live with. As long as they mess around with the HEELS only though. Mickie gives Aldis a title shot against Roman.

It's been reported that it was always going to be Owens that was traded, but by waiting to announce who was traded in return, they've been able to have the no one trusts Jey/KO definitely doesn't trust Jey/Jey wins KO's trust story in the meantime.

Hey, I guess I was wrong. I can admit that. But I stand by a lot of the logistical holes in most of the GM stuff. One guy running two brands would be like if the same GM ran two NBA or NFL teams. Even if they’re under the same umbrella, you can only help to serve one interest more than the other, thus it’ll make both look badly run. It should have been solved ages ago to prevent some of the other holes like the Deville but *shrug*

What has Adam Pearce done to deserve a "promotion" in kayfabe? This bozo can't even manage a Target. WWE Board of Directors meeting where the roundtable is discussing promotions when one of them wheels in a CRT TV on one of those carts teachers use, plops in a VHS and this plays: And then they unanimously vote yes on Pearce getting promoted.

To be fair, her showing up at the Rumble with the Impact title/theme song seemed like a huge "our bad" to her Still my favorite rare moment of WWE being as humble as they can show being all "We're running out of talent to call since we fired most of them, sorry about the bin bag thing, UwU".
