Twitter/X is fantastic if you enjoy innocently looking for artwork or funny jokes, and instead you’re bombarded with every single negative and unfortunate thing that is happening by the hour, with a side of the dumbest and most reductive takes you’ll ever have the misfortune of reading coming from said news events. And I’m not even including the close minded cranks with that.

I have accounts on both sites, So I guess I'll contribute to this topic...
For Reddit, I usually avoid all the nasty areas (no, I'm not talking about the NSFW side, I mean the places where people say some pretty garbage stuff) and I usually have a fine, if somewhat uneventful time on there, though that's usually because I forget that I have a reddit account...
As for Twitter (No, I will NEVER call it X), well...it's more complicated.
While my TL on there is usually filled with stuff I like, recent events have caused me to lose motivation with going there everyday. The reasoning being the bots, everything Crybaby Bitchboy Elon does that gets reported on the news, the problem of vile jerkoffs being more prominent (they were there during Dorsey's run, but Musk's reign, of course made it more worse) and a boatload of other problems.
As much as I would leave the website...I just can't. I has to do with two things. 1, I have way too many mutuals on there that I don't want to leave, especially the amount I made there after leaving Tumblr in 2018 after they went "Seggs bad and should be banned, but not banning Nazis Good!" (mone on tumblr later). 2 is where the hell am I gonna go If I actually do leave? Cohost? BlueSky? Mastodon? Relating to the 1st reason, some people I know have gone there, but others have not and I feel I would lose a lot/miss a lot of people If I do leave Twitter.
And speaking of Tumblr, as much as I'm glad to use it again, the people in charge there (or Staff as they're called) have angered me a few times with shady stuff they've done, as well as still holding on to that NSFW purge (and I also blame the stupid jabronis at Apple & Yahoo for also taking part in it), but I seem to have a bit more fun over there now, flaws and all...as well as here!
I feel that the corporatizing of Social Media Sites is probably one of the big reasons why those sites in recent years have become notorious for controversies, and heck, on Wikipedia yesterday, I read about Platform Decay (it's actual name was coined by author Cory Doctorow I can't post on here) and yeah...it hit way to hard at home.
Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring. In short, As much as I like using the sites...I can recognize the pain it can cause and sometimes straying away from it can help.
