One could imagine, then again, it's Punk. The only person he ultimately has to prove wrong is himself.

He’s got a pretty great attitude so far. Huge ratings and selling a lot of merchandise, there are plenty of people in the back that see him as a leader too. He seems like he’s in for a pretty positive run. Sincerely hoping for Phil's sake that it sticks. Recall that his AEW run also started off positively before one errant comment set off a chain reaction. Yeah, can't be said enough his first 6 months in AEW were all peaches. He was happy and everything looked positive, and then one small comment got under his skin and everything exploded. What's gonna happen when that happens in WWE? It will, it happened his first time in WWE with his strange hatred of Miz, or refusing to tag in Jericho and Edge during a house show match because they were watching a hockey game.

How many tshirts he sells seems a weird metric to judge his attitude on. Selling a ton of merch would definitely make someone’s attitude pretty good you’d imagine. Coupling that with all the other stuff I said you decided to ignore. I don't imagine that because Punk sold dumptrucks worth of t-shirts for AEW and his new designs would immediately be on the top sellers page and he was still in a pretty bad mood.

If anything, the more t-shirts he sells, the more pissed off he gets, lol.

He wants so badly to be a locker room leader despite clearly having the shittiest attitude in said locker room He’s got a pretty great attitude so far. Huge ratings and selling a lot of merchandise, there are plenty of people in the back that see him as a leader too. He seems like he’s in for a pretty positive run. That's what we all said in AEW. Punk was given the world title, the pick of his feuds, shitloads of time on TV, creative freedom, and an entire TV show, and it still wasn't enough for him. Punk said, on television, 'if you have a problem with Jungle Boy, then it's definitely you that has the problem.' And then...

He scored enormous ratings on Raw, why wouldn’t that make him happy thus giving him an even better attitude. I don’t see what’s superfluous about it.

Because people who aren't happy are unhappy about like, actual important things, and the nature of a high-rated television segment doesn't just make his problems go away? If he's unhappy over things in his life, over interpersonal conflicts or insecurities, over stressful life events and problems weighing on his mind, looking in the mirror and going "I bring value to my employer in the form of television ratings" doesn't make that all go away. I've done really well at jobs during some of the bleakest, shittiest times of my life and it didn't help me an iota.

I would also argue if his high ratings and shirt sales make him happy then 1. Again, AEW also had higher ratings with him and it didn't help 2. He is even less the person he claims to be than i realised

Seems like people actually WANT Punk to self destruct just so they can say “I told you so” because he gave AEW negative publicity
His run has been great so far, and his what’s in store for him in the future looks promising. We should just enjoy this run of his while he’s getting a second chance. The difference between WWE and AEW are the people running the place. Punk pretty much stepped for TK until he “feared for his life” and fired him. That ain’t happening under the current WWE landscape

It'll be nipped in the bud one way or another from the start.

It's just a case of "fool me once." Saying things are great for him in WWE right now therefore things can't possibly go wrong is ringing hollow for many people who remember how great those first few months in AEW were as well. I hope things do go well in WWE and that it's successful for both Punk and WWE, but as someone who was a fan of his since his ROH/blogging on LiveJournal days, how everything ended in AEW has shaken my faith in Punk a little and I know I'm not the only one in that position. Punk is, in his own words, a jerk and is very set in his ways. That's a bad recipe anywhere.

I freely admit I want Punk to fail because that would be funny to me personally.
That said, I was only responding to points being made about why he wouldn't act out when it has been demonstrated that those things make no difference to whether he will or not

It’s just funny to me that Punk is basically running back the PR machine where all these stories about him helping young talent and kissing babies. The entirety of AEW, even when things were blowing up, the Punk people would put all these stories about how great he actually was. After him and Jungle Boy got into the brawl, there was the story that he felt so bad that he bought a whole bunch of food for everybody. Maybe for the first time in his life Punk has matured and changed. But there’s fair reason to be skeptical that he’s suddenly a new man with an altruistic heart, since is the way he’s been acting.

I also don’t think he deserves praise for behaving for 3 weeks. On a more personal feeling, I don’t really think he deserves to right his legacy and get a hero’s welcome after getting fired the way he did…but I believe I can think that and not actively route for his down fall.

That ain’t happening under the current WWE landscape I think the main problem here is the very fact he’s getting a second chance he doesn’t really deserve based on his actions in AEW. That makes it hard for me to really enjoy Punks return to WWE. Although the fact he has had to go crawling back to a place he hates does nearly balance it all out…
