Fightful said that talent were pulled aside before the last match and were told Punk would be returning at the end. Some excited, some upset, some curious. Pretty much the basic stuff that's said when someone joins a company who's big. Apparently Kermit (wrestling insider on Reddit) said Seth knew, it's a work and it's setting up Punk/Seth at Rumble. EDIT: Yep.
I want to know who was curious lol also I wonder when/if Cole & Graves were told There's a video online, Cole was nodding his head to the damn theme. He's in on it 100%. He was Mr. AEW all night long. 1. Chris Jericho 2. Ric Flair 3. Edge 4. The Shield (Moxley) 5. Cody did something big in this building too 6. CM Punk nodding. |

I understand not being a fan of his, but to hope he gets injured is a whole other level of disturbing. There’s really no possible way that didn’t read as a joke, right? Like…he got injured couching the Elite’s moves on more than one occasion before. I don’t really give two f***s what he does. Sorry if that somehow read as serious. |

Of course it's a work. The easiest way to tell is the rest of the wrestlers aren't reacting at all to Seth. If he was legit going haywire, Sami or Cody would have grabbed him to say it's not the time or place, rather than Cole and Graves half-assed attempt and the ref who's clearly working. Instead, they just stand there. Randy is busy patting Jey on the back when all this is happening. Probably. I would not be terribly shocked if Seth either was pulled into whatever sessions Triple H and Punk had, or if Seth is just willing to deal with Punk if given assurance that Punk be kept on a leash if the two still have beef. The "Punk is a cancer" thing was a while ago now, so it's not like there hasn't been ample time for some kind of a discussion to be had. In any case, even if WWE has screwed up on this kind of thing before (booking Del Rio vs Sin Cara 1 multiple times despite the two hating each other and Del Rio spending their matches stiffing the shit out of him repeatedly), this is obviously higher profile talent with higher stakes. |

I’ve had to recap the thread already. Scrum/C.M Punk Threads are the Michael Myers to FAN mods. HHH's ego probably thinks "I can keep him under control, there will be no backstage brawls here." And well time will tell whether it's the case or not. “I can change him” What I wouldn't give now for a Meltzer/SRS report that HHH was pumping his fists and enthusiastically chanting "CM Punk! I don't think there's anyone inherently horrible on Impact right now if you need to scratch your wrestling itch. Like the closest is probably Tommy Dreamer and he's just kind of an idiot. Swann and Perkins still around? TJP is no longer there. He's mostly in New Japan these days.
Swann, I think? is still there though I don't think he's wrestled since the summer. But he and his wife reconciled and he's been a model citizen since. They also just had a kid last year.

Lol I wonder if AJ Styles changed his mind about never working with Punk.
But my serious opinion is I think Punk still has something to offer in the ring, so there'll be some great matches, but I've been over his promo style for a while and am not really looking forward to what he's going to have to say.

Honestly I think with some reflection what really has me pissed over this is the smug satisfaction of blue checks and blue check-likes elsewhere and how much they revel in assault being a-okay if it’s done by someone they like. Not a unique situation by any means, see the trash bags defending Majors and Diddy presently, but it still gets maddening seeing those people rewarded and justified in their beliefs.
Like really, it’s kind of dumb to be mad as it is because McDonagh was in that same match and he has done way the hell worse than Punk and saw less consequences for it.

I love Punk and Roman, but the two of them having a match has no appeal to me. Punk's main gripe after being told "match with Taker IS a main event" was that he wasn't paid like it was one" If main eventing Mania is even something he wants anymore. He could have let that dream die in the last 10 years. |

Tonight is such a mindf*** I could spend the rest of 2023 thinking about it and still be absolutely dumbfounded. All of Cole's references, MALAKAI saying Punk by name apparently (recorded Rampage/Collision, hopefully will get to them sometime this week) and it all leading to this. And I have a houseshow tomorrow and I don't know what to expect except that I'm going to just be doing the most Pisces thing possible, sitting quietly and observing everything.
