A way to improve commentary

Commentary is essential to wrestling. And the announcers need to be as close to the action as possible to do their best.


During matches, the commentators' table should be inside the ring. With the announcers that close to the action, commentary will be better.

This just gives me flashbacks to that one night in 1999 that JR had a commentary table in front of the normal one, which led to Billy Gunn winning the Hardcore Championship from Bob Holly.

Take away their table, just give them wired mics and have them call the action while avoiding the action. I love it

Commentators should be subject to ejection if they're having a terrible night. Every show should come equipped with a bench full of commentators ready to sub in whenever someone's being ass.

Imagine Kevin Patrick finally getting dragged away for his crimes just one time and in comes Ernie Johnson dapping up Michael Cole.

Jerry Lawler would want to return to commentary for the Women's matches then, as long as the referee was also a woman.

It's a little known fact that Randy Savage wanted to do this when he was on commentary. It was cut out of subsequent versions but when shows first aired you could see him phyiscally try to get closer to the ring, sulk when he was stopped or Vince looking awkward after they had to mute the mics because he'd suggest it on air. It's a large part of why they fell out.
You just don't see commentators get so close to the ring these days in an attempt to prevent people trying to do the same.

They commentators should be on the backs of the combatants riding them piggyback style while the action takes place.

If it's a tag match, the action will come to a standstill until the transition of the commentator climbing onto the tag partner takes place.

In any circumstance, if the combatant is on the ground after a move is performed, the commentator will lay next to them until they recover, where they again reclaim their spot on the back of the performer.

I think commentating teams should always have one person that has no clue what's actually booked and reacts like a color sports commentator.

I also wish the WWE had a "Peyton and Eli" style commentary option for PPVs where it's basically like a pair of industry pros (like the Hardy Boyz) with zero current booking knowledge just talking about whatever they see/feel with random guests like Booker T or drunk Jericho popping in to talk shit.

The Manningcast is the single best thing to happen to pro football broadcasts since Monday Night Football started so I'd unironically love to see a wrestling version of it.

Commentators should record their call before the match based on the booking and what the wrestlers want/tend to do. The wrestlers should then have earpieces playing the commentary (which will be airing over their match on a slight delay) and try to recreate what the team called.

Sounds like an experiment they could have done during the COVID era (either empty arena or Thunderdome).
