Why is MJF, arguably the top babyface in the company, restarting the lame Bidding War of 2024 stuff implying that he may go to WWE which only stands to make AEW look second rate? As once again, the top babyface in the company?! Only shtick he knows Really? It’s the only thing MJF has been doing for last 12 months? Compared to whom? Reigns? MJF has been nothing short of fantastic. Is this what it is to be a pro wrestling fan now? Just bitch and moan about everything?

Just bitch and moan about everything? There was also the feud with Danielson, which had some questionable insults thrown at Takeshita and an all time terrible promo about “Liv” and getting lucky in a car. There was the Four Pillars feud which, bless his heart, Max could not elevate the others to his level. I’d put that more on booking than him though. A fantastic bromance with Adam Cole that I was skeptical of first but seems to be going well. Cole might be The Devil which would imo feel cheap but that’s one man’s opinion. A good feud with Joe, and if I’m being honest Joe is coming off stronger despite losing matches. And now The Devil storyline, moving at what I’m generously calling a glacial pace. But he’s also been doing the “Bidding War of 24” schtick for over a year and will occasionally sprinkle it in promos so it’s always around. Doing so now, when you’re the World Champion and arguably the Face of the company, just feels like going back to the well when hardly anyone believes it. It may be in character but people can still roll their eyes whenever it’s mentioned.

1. MJF has been a successful AEW World Champion. Ticket sales are down but PPV’s have been very good overall and All-In was a grand slam. 2. MJF is not leaving AEW for at least another 3+ years if ever. 3. The concern trolling on this board is getting out of hand. 4. This thread is another on the long list of recently made threads which really blows. Posting a question about how bad it would be if MJF does the thing he has been threatening to do in promos and interviews for literally years is not concern trolling. And there is concern trolling on this board, sure, but this is not that, come on, man. It's also kind of ridiculous to be complaining about concern trolling as if it's part of what makes the board a less fun place to be, and then vaguely bury the threads people are making which is functionally taking a shot at the board membership as a whole. Nobody makes you read any of these threads. Just don't read them.

I think the reason we keep seeing these threads pop up (including that 'Is it crunch time' thread I made that got locked, possibly deservedly so) is that a huge fraction of us wrestling fans are still just all too familiar with what happens when WWE is the only show in town. How heartbroken a bunch of us were when WCW shut down, for better or worse. I think most people just wanna see AEW soar to its highest heights and thats why so much negative stuff gets pointed out. I'm also annoyingly guilty of trying to find the good in most people so I guess there's a chance there's just a bunch of trolls on here who wanna see the world burn.

They lost Punk & Cody… Other guys have been out with injuries for extended periods of time.
Yet there’s still like 25 guys that could believable get a main event championship run.
I think they will be fine.

Now? By proxy? Huge because they’ve made him “The Guy”. I don’t know how to put this, but MJF seemed a lot hotter before the title reign. Like more of a lucrative signing before that. So, even though it’d be a blow, the silver lining could be attention being brought to a lot more guys. That's sort of the old classic problem with fans rallying behind guys over the years, but especially in the last 15-20 years. The fans get behind the chase. The fans have shifted from MJF needing to be "The Guy" for a couple of years until he got the belt, and now that he's had it, the fans have grown tired of him having the belt and have shifted to Swerve needing to be "The Guy."

It would be huge as far as perception goes. Because everyone that has jumped ship or in Punks case just shipped off has been names TK had put huge stock , time and effort into only for them to be all byyyyeeeee. Business wise it likely wont make too much of a dent if any but that would not be the worrie it is the fact that big name after big name keeps choosing not to remain with AEW. It seems the most loyal to AEW in the long run might just be those that were already burned by WWE initially and that giant chip on their shoulder...your Swerve , Moxely etc. I think that's been a pretty smart approach by WWE to this point, especially when you consider the enormous swath of ex-WWE talents who have shown up in AEW ranging from top talents to mid-card to bottom of the card. It looks like AEW will take ANYONE from WWE, while WWE only wants the truly elite from All Elite. If Action Andretti was a surprise entrant into the Royal Rumble, it would devalue the perception that WWE is mining AEW for its best and brightest.

This forum in particular tends to hate super long title reigns. I'd say it's only reflective of here and not the fanbase as a whole. MJF is still one of the most popular wrestlers in the company judging by crowd reactions and merch sales.

Yep. Guaranteed it’ll be the same with swerve eventually lol

Just bitch and moan about everything? You're free to like MJF, others (like myself, dude suuuucks) are free to think he's a one trick pony who's actively irritating to watch. Neither is wrong and saying you dislike him doesn't mean you're "bitching and moaning about everything."

He's gotten over by being a cool heel who has gone above and beyond standard heel activity and worked with fan favorite babyfaces. He's got a lackey who has gotten over for a niche thing, and now he's gaining momentum to work with the established top guy. Give him a few months after he gets the belt before people are calling for Adam Cole to get the belt or something.

Tony Khan can just replace him with EC3 and then just act like nothing is different.
