She just threw a fit because Trevor Lawrence is making more than her.

I don't care what happens in what segment (unless there's some huge match I feel like should be in the main event spot). I was just pointing out the idea that the women rarely get that spot anymore is false. They still very much get it far more often than the men. Those are just facts/numbers. You don't have to get so worked up over them. I agree they still get the spot I just was saying I don't really think it objectively matters for the girls to get that spot any random week when at this point the ratings do not indicate it's a "Death slot" anymore, and the pacing of the shows usually have quite a few things before the main event anyway I mean just this week the girls had their match but then there was ANOTHER match before the main event in the Garcia squash, so it's all incredibly subjective at this point, Dynamite's not following a particular pattern as much anymore. The “death slot” is not about the ratings. It’s about that cool down, unimportant feeling spot before the main event that women have traditionally gotten , especially back in the Divas days. Having the women open the show, work the 9 pm crossover segment, or main event the show on a more consistent basis would go a long way (apart from the obvious of doing more than one match on Dynamite).

There is an increased sensitivity around women's wrestling in the death spot because not only were the women's matches always there, but it was then used as evidence that the women weren't over enough. Well no shit Sherlock, if you consistently put them in the spot on the card where the crowd are naturally burnt out and conserving themselves for the main event, then the reaction always is going to be cold.
AEW has been better about it in the last few months. It still happens too often. Both of these are true.
There has been a great improvement in the women's division as of late. Both in ring quality and the number of good stories running. The journey isn't finished though.

I'd have to dig in to see for sure, but it always feels like it's squash match time if it's not a women's match.

I enjoyed Mercedes' match on Dynamite but her alignment confuses me. She seemed to be leaning heel against Willow but all evidence on Dynamite suggested she was supposed to be a pure face.
I like BCC as tweeners because they're always essentially the same at their core, oponents dictate their alignment. I don't get the same with Mercedes yet, there's no centre to ground the character so it feels more of a split personality. Not knowing high scrabble score lady didn't help either.

Felt like the Willow build was leading to a heel turn, if not at ppv then at least after. Maybe it's going to be a slow burn thing

I'm hoping it's an issue of opponent familiarity, and her playing home field against CMLL challengers in the meantime. It's not ideal coming fresh off of the Willow feud but hopefully it can stabilize into a direction post-Forbidden Door, and we aren't in for a fairly lengthy and deeply erratic reign.

I feel it's mostly because of her FD opponent. Not someone people are super familiar with, so heeling on this would be confusing.

I think Mercedes being a bit of a smarmy ass who is not only well aware of how good she is but won't hesitate to tell everyone else about it has been her thing for years. She was even doing it while she was hanging around in New Japan.
The only thing I needed for it to make sense was:
1.) A plausible reason for beef (Mercedes got injured in her match against Willow and lost a title). 2.) Mercedes to deal with it in a way that's consistent with her character (passive-aggressively big-timing Willow every chance she got).
Granted, whether or not she leans more in to fighting dirty usually depends on the context of the matches but.... If anything Mercedes has seemed more like a tweener for a while?
