#141 - The Great Gatsby (4K Blu-Ray) *2nd Viewing When I initially saw this in theaters, I really didn't like it. This time around, over a decade later, it's better than I recall but still never grabs me the way I feel it should. I like the cast, the visuals, and aspects of the story but something is missing. [***] #142 - House Party (Tubi) *3rd Viewing All these years later, this movie is still a blast. [***½] Maybe a year after it hit theaters House Party aired at least once a week on Showtime. I saw it who knows how many times. Can still quote most of the film.

56. Drop Dead Fred (1991) 57. Project: ALF (1996) 58. Electric Dreams (1984)Another cult 80's classic that, for some reason, YouTube has been recommending for me lately. For those not familiar, San Francisco architect Miles' computer somehow gains sentience after he spills champagne over it. Miles then uses said computer to compose some songs to win over neighbor girl Madeline. The computer gets jealous and a weird love triangle develops. There are a lot of logic gaps in this movie, but once you get past that, you have a surprisingly charming and sweet film. It also has some fun cinematography with surprisingly inventive uses of music, computer graphics and animation. If you like 80's movies then I really recommend this.

#143 - The Lost Daughter (Netflix)
*1st Viewing
Was never a huge Maggie Gyllenhaal fan but I really dug this directorial debut from her. Also further cemented that I don't want kids. [***½]
#144 - Lisa Frankenstein (Peacock)

Kathryn Newton is charming as always but this was a cute little idea that kind of misses the mark and never fully clicked for me. [**½]

While I liked this, it does rank near the bottom among Wes Anderson films. [***]

136. The Evil (1978) - I watched a bad print titled House of Evil, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. I dug this. Something I'd re-buy with a better print. 137. Take Me Home Tonight (2011) - not without its moments but didn't wow me or anything, Chris Pratt appears in this, kept wondering why he looked younger here then in when Parks and Rec started and turns out it was on the shelf for four years.

81. ASSASSIN (1986) A made-for-TV Terminator knockoff where a retired government man is pulled back in after an "agent" goes rogue and has enough information that no active employee can get the drop on them. The reason it's a Terminator knock-off? Because the "agent" is actually a government created killbot whose inventor has preloaded with a bunch of names to assassinate.
Does really well lifting the concept of Terminator and repurposing it. Rather enjoyed their take on things (especially when the robot realizes it's being tracked so it seduces a random woman so it can spend the night at her home). The guy playing the killbot is the same guy who gives Young Indiana Jones his hat during the beginning of The Last Crusade.
82. The Last Sentinel (2007) Starring Don "the Dragon" Wilson, an AI police drone squad turned evil and wiped out humanity so that the last remaining super soldier from the 'best of the best' is now traveling from place to place until he stumbles upon a weak, untrained resistance that refuses to give up, inspiring him (and his AI Talking rifle) to give one last try for humanity. Of course, that resistance is pretty much immediately wiped out exeept for Katee Sackhoff's character, but that's low budget movies for you.
It's not really that great, but it does feature Keith David as a smack talking mini-gun AI that has somehow gone crazy from being abandoned for years after it's soldiers were gunned down.
83. THE DEAD ONE (2007) Apparently based on a comic that Bad Bunny is now wanting to adapt, this mid-2000s movie stars Wilder Valderamma (Yes, That 70s Show's Fez) as an illegal immigrant who dies but is returned to the living in order to carry out an ancient prophecy...but...does he want to do that or not? Has some weird combo vibes of The Crow and Spawn but with the problem being that Wilder is not up to playing the dramatic parts. They surround him with a murderers row of fantastic character actors that do keep the movie afloat though.
84. LISA FRANKENSTEIN (2024) I honestly feel like there is a generation of people who will see this as their Edward Scissorhands style movie memory. Just a wonderfully obtuse collection of unique quirky stuff. It didn't land 100% with me, but I think I'm still okay with the Diablo Cody monologues.
85. ROTTENTAIL (2018) Watched as part of Joe Bob's Last Drive-in Show. This is not a very good horror comedy. I can appreciate the effort and the work on the make-up effects of the title character...but I just didn't like it at all.
86. NIGHT VISION (1997) Fred Williamson and Cynthia Rothrock star in this unique little action/mystery flick where a serial killer is stalking his victims and making literally "This is Your Life" style videos to criticize their existence before killing them. When Williamson almost stops the killer (and accidentally kills their next prey during the shoot out), the game of cat-and-mouse begins driving Williamson further into his alcoholism and forcing the department to pair him with a new partner (Rothrock).
It goes interesting places. Also, I only found it because of a bit on the We Hate Movies podcast where they were mocking the night vision in the Rollerball remake to the point that I just typed it into the search engine of Tubi. I'll take it. A fun enough watch.
87. FATAL ERROR (1999) Based on a book written by the same guy who would go on to write the books that The Social Network and Dumb Money were based on, this is a sci-fi pre-Y2K panic movie where the villain CREATES A COMPUTER VIRUS THAT CAN KILL PEOPLE USING THEIR COMPUTERS.
I loved the nonsense of it. Antonio Sabato Jr plays a rogue doctor who heroically broke a quarantine to attempt and save his fiancé and got busted down to being an EMT (That's how that works, I guess).
88. THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1932) Perhaps the prototype for the "Dark and Stormy Night in a Creepy House" idea. Stars Boris Karloff in one of his most intimidating roles as...a big scary drunk dude. Great stuff.
89. MUTE WITNESS (1995) A mute woman who does gore effects for movies goes back for a prop she needs to prep for the next day, only to get locked in the studio and stumbles onto what she believes is a porn being filmed until...well...she becomes a witness to something awful.
This thing goes in some strange directions, with hard shifts in tones at times, but it was all really well done. It also has a rather insane cameo appearance by someone literally listed in the credits as "Mystery Guest Star"
90. NIGHT SWIM (2024) AMITYVILLE POOL! AMITYVILLE POOL!
Man, Blumhouse. They play this one so daggone seriously, but you show me the main guy smiling while looking in the camera and saying "We have a pool!" and it can't be anything but goofy to me.
Not a single jump scare worked on me but there is a scene near the end involving a quarter with a happy face drawn on it that I kind of enjoyed.

18. Terminator Salvation
Sure, it was a visually appealing assortment of robots, fights and explosions. It would have been nice if the story was more than a mess of plot holes and absurd actions. If you like picking a movie apart as you watch it, then this one is for you.

This movie is corny as hell but I liked it when it first came out so I have a soft spot for it. [***]
#148 - Godzilla vs. Kong (Max)
*2nd Viewing
Decided to rewatch this ahead of seeing the new one and it's so dumb. I mean that in a good way because the plot and the Hollow Earth stuff really makes no sense and there are way too many human characters. That said, the big monsters have some dope fights and that's really all I'm here for. [***½]

You could tell this was written by a dude. Ultimately, it's wildly generic and the chemistry between the leads isn't good enough to raise this above average. [**]

46-Killer Barbys-Kino Lorber BLu Ray
Yes I know post 85 Jess Franco can be horrible. This musical/horror/gothic drama mash up from 96 isn't horrible.
The band the Killer Barbies break down on their way to a gig. Most of the band goes to a nearby castle and the killings start.
Got the look of a late 60s Hammer horror but much much sleazier. Acting aint bad, well I watched it English Dubbed and betting most of this cast spoke Spanish on the set.

138. Basic Instinct (1992) - ended up taking a couple of days off from movie watching since there was so much wrestling happening last week. Sexy thriller, still holds up. 139. Doomsday Gun (1994) - interesting drama with a great cast (some American and an all bunch of Brits).

Like two minutes into this, I realized it's from the person who made "Your Name" and I was hooked. A beautiful, creative story that's visually stunning and tells a gripping story. [****½]
#151 - Música (Prime)

Story-wise, it treads on familiar rom-com grounds but it gets a boost from the creative use of music. Also, imagine two-timing Camila Mendes. Couldn't be me. [***]

58. Electric Dreams (1984) 59. Tower of Terror (1997)This is an old Disney TV movie from back in the day used to advertise the (then) new ride at the Disney parks. It was recommended in another thread and I found it on YouTube. Quality is kinda meh so I'm guessing it's a straight VHS rip. For those not familiar, Steve Guttenberg plays a shady journalist and Kirsten Dunst is his teenage niece and they're investigating hauntings at the now abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel where five people mysteriously disappeared in 1939. Ok enough movie, I guess. Kinda dry for my tastes, but it's one of those movies that I can see people who grew up with it would have nostalgia for it. 60. The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot (2018)This is not a movie that was at all on my radar, but after coming across it on YouTube and seeing the title I just had to check it out. For those not familiar, Sam Elliott plays an American veteran who was apart of a secret mission during World War II to kill Hitler, and then in 1987 he's re-commissioned to hunt down and kill a sick Bigfoot in Canada before he can unleash a plague on the rest of the world. And that description, while completely accurate, is also probably the most misleading description I could give you for the movie. You are probably thinking this to be some cheep, cheesy B-movie with goofy action sequences, too much CGI and bad one-liners. I know I was. It's not. It is a slow, heart-wrenching drama about a PTSD-riddled old soldier doing his duty one last time while dejectedly reminiscing about his past and how his life did not turn out like he hoped. It just happens to include a twenty minute stretch of him gunning down a Bigfoot as well. I'm not saying this is a bad movie, as it is very well made and I can easily see it finding an audience, but I am so not that audience and it is not the movie I was expecting it to be.
