NXT guys can be a nice touch, but its not the same. A big part of the rumble is the surprise nostalgia entrant, and it really can add peaks to the rumbles.

The Women's Rumble blew all of their big nostalgia pops in like their first year, it was half of that Rumble
Kind of shocked we don't get at least two nostalgia ones for WWE's sake like they used to do, I'll take anything over that McAfee shit again

The Women's Rumble blew all of their big nostalgia pops in like their first year, it was half of that Rumble Which was a bit Column A (Lack of depth in the division) and a bit Column B (Bucket list occasion for a bunch of legends that never got the chance to do a Royal Rumble). And then again in like 2022 when they got rid of the depth. At least now they've got a division which is at least plentiful in number without having to rely on half a field of legends and NXT entries... even if they're not necessarily over.

Admittedly it is rough, a combination of women who aren't over and horrible generic themes that don't distinguish them from a CAW. I watch weekly and even I still didn't know half of the women if not more until I saw a nameplate or them in general, Def Rebel is ass.

Yeah, I do definitely think the music has to play a part in how not over so many people were. So much of it is indistinguishable noise.

And also, when you spend months going "It'll be either Lynch or Bayley winning this thing, they're the only two that make sense following the TV", you're not gonna pay much mind to Xia Li entering the match. This is something that plagued a lot of the men's match too, just sub in the names "Rhodes" and "Punk".

Compared to the men especially who at least have very distinguishable hooks or intros, hell even Andrade's went "EL IDOLO" just to spell out who the f*** it was The women's all have like, the same indistinguishable guitar riff openings, they need more shit that stands out. Hell even of the new girls the only one who's theme actually sounds like it gives a damn is Jade's and it's because they stayed as close to the AEW one as humanly possible TNA style lol

We often talk about the high number of WWE stars who are genuinely over week-to-week these days. Yet how many times was there a 2-second silence after the buzzer while the crowd had to figure out whose music they were hearing?

Yet how many times was there a 2-second silence after the buzzer while the crowd had to figure out whose music they were hearing? Yup. It's been the biggest hindrance for a long while now. The biggest pops are either what's left of CFO's work, what Jim Johnston songs are still floating around (Lesnar), or songs not even made in WWE (Cody). But as far as nostalgia? Nah. Give me a surprise Jordynne Grace over Headbanger Mosh any day.

They should work deals to get some international people and legends in. See if they can get guys like Liger back for a one off.
I’m not even sure who fits as a nostalgia pop now. Vince poisoned the well with the last generation.

I fully agree honestly, the crowd felt so quiet and flat for a lot of the show. When you've got a solid idea of who the winners or final 2-3 are likely to be, the rest of the Rumble feels like filler sometimes, when Roman's booked in a truly pointless match where there's no suspension of disbelief that his 3 year title reign is ending at a Rumble it adds to that sense of filler. A surprise nostalgia entry at least lifts the crowd, NXT guys aren't really a surprise in the same way and their spot just serves more as an ad for NXT than to do much for the Rumble. This isn't the late 00s-early 10s where there were talented guys getting zero showcasing in favour of nostalgia acts, the NXT guys get good exposure as it is, I'd take a left field nostalgia pop to keep the midmatch interesting.

The nostalgia pops were always going to diminish because nobody would even recognise let alone pop for, say, Renee Dupree

I would like just a few. Those little surprises and seeing an old favourite looking good for a few spots was always nice.

I would have gladly taken say an X-Pac appearance or something over that McAfee crap.

I think we hit the ceiling on nostalgia entries though. Most of those guys that we want to see are in their 60s-70s and aren't in R-Truth shape so it would be rough to watch. I saw Mantaur at a GCW battle Royale and he could barely move.
