What I think will happen: Wolfdogs win the Dusty Cup. Trick wins the NXT Championship, then Melo attacks him afterwards. We get Trick vs. Melo at Stand & Deliver. Trick vs Melo is happening for sure, but I have it non-title. They always want a big grudge match. Just don't know who'd face Ilja. Dijak? Lee? Please not Ridge I joked about Okada but main event men's talent is NXT biggest weakness. They have so few who you could buy being NXT champ right now. |

If the issue is that there's no other realistic options to challenge for the NXT Championship, then just put the belt on Williams and start building others up to him, he's as close in credibility to Dragunov as you're gonna get for a little bit. Then you can build up someone in two Takeover cycles (I know they're not called that anymore, but that's what these shows still essentially are in all but name) at least as an initial second defense (assuming Hayes is the first), and then by winter you might have a legit option or two in hand.
It can be done. Just look at Williams himself as an example.
