At my old job, there was a lady who I worked with had a candid picture with him. Apparently, her daughter and his son were married briefly. She said he was a nice guy, but quiet.
He was great as Chubbs in Happy Gilmore.

I was just watching the episode of The Shield he guest starred on. He was great in such a dramatic role.
He really was a low key triple threat actor, doing action, comedy, and drama so well. RIP.

I tried to go to my Happy Place, and got choked up.
RIP to an absolute legend.

I'm saddened to hear about Carl, especially when he was still very much a working actor and never felt like he'd lost any step. His last couple of posts on social media also strived for peacetime and putting the value of his homeland's standing in the world first. He truly was 'living in America'
We'll miss you Apollo. Ding Ding.

Just seen Sylvestor Stallone's tribute. He is absolutely broken over this one.

Absolute king of acting his ass off. His death scene in Rocky 4 was so good that he convinced the on-set medical staff that he was actually in serious condition. The majority of his characterization in Arrested Development was his idea, they originally just wanted him to do a silly Rocky 3 parody with Tobias and they turned it into a recurring role where he was destitute.
RIP to the legend

R.I.P
Action Jackson was seriously underrated and should have made him an action star.

R.I.P Action Jackson was seriously underrated and should have made him an action star. The only reason I can see that he didn't become a star was race. A former NFL player, handsome and personable, incredibly personable and a great interview, nevermind the fact that he was an incredible dramatic and comedic actor? How did he not become at least a Lungren-level leading man?

The only reason I can see that he didn't become a star was race. A former NFL player, handsome and personable, incredibly personable and a great interview, nevermind the fact that he was an incredible dramatic and comedic actor? How did he not become at least a Lungren-level leading man? The '80s were a weird time for Carl. He hit the height of his fame as an actor with two Rocky movies and Predator, but it was also a lean period for him: • 1980 – nothing • 1981 – Death Hunt • 1982 – Rocky II • 1983 – nothing • 1984 – nothing • 1985 – Rocky IV, Braker (rejected pilot, aired as a TV movie) • 1986 – The Defiant Ones (TV movie), Fortune Dane (TV series, cancelled after five episodes) • 1987 – Predator • 1988 – Action Jackson • 1989 – Tour of Duty (guest role, four episodes) An actor of Carl's calibre being reduced to searching for roles on TV at a time when there was a big gulf between how movies and TV were perceived really can't be explained without considering the more insidious reasons. It's not like his one leading role – Action Jackson – was a bomb, either. It made $65 million on a $7 million budget (just shy of a $170 million in today's money).
