I find it kind of strange since Taker/HBK retired that they haven't really tried to fill that void of that big marquee "Likely MOTY" spot at Mania. That big 30 minute instant classic just kind of went away. I know those are ginormous boots to fill, but surely with the talent they've had on the roster since then that they'd have some folks in the 'can bust out an amazing big time hype singles match' spot at Mania, which doesn't feel the same to me with its absence.

They've probably had matches here and there since that they thought would fill that purpose. Like, I reckon they think that AJ Styles kinda serves this role (of seven WrestleMania matches, only two of them have been for titles, the other five being non-title singles), but his matches have generally underwhelmed. But at the same time, it's hard to do that with a lot of the current guys because they just haven't built up the same kind of gravitas and prestige over literal decades as a Shawn Michaels or an Undertaker did, where simply having a match with them at WrestleMania is seen as being one of the big stars of the night.

Like yeah, they're starting an hour earlier, but I could also see that being a way for them to get everything done and everybody out of that arena by 11-11:05PM ET instead of having folks wandering around trying to get Ubers after midnight. I could easily see stuff like whatever happens with LWO winding up on Smackdown, too.

Is it just me or do we feel like we’re driving like 15 mph on the Road to WrestleMania?
I just think back to how hot the build was to last year’s WrestleMania. You had Cody versus Roman/Heyman, Jey Uso’s internal dilemma, Kevin Owens debating if he could befriend Sami Zayn, Dominik calling out Rey at every turn, Edge and Finn Balor gearing up for Hell in a Cell, John Cena telling Austin Theory he wasn’t ready for primetime, Seth Rollins in verbal jousts with Logan Paul.
I’m waiting for this year’s WrestleMania season to really turn up, but each week after Raw and SmackDown I’m sort of left with this blasé “that’s it?” feeling.

I’m waiting for this year’s WrestleMania season to really turn up, but each week after Raw and SmackDown I’m sort of left with this blasé “that’s it?” feeling. I agree. I think a lot of it has to do with the uncertainty around Seth. It seems like they want him to have at least two matches WrestleMania weekend, but he may not be up for even one, and they're afraid to book other matches that his health might affect. For example, let's say they want him to wrestle Drew one-on-one. But if he's not ready by then, their second choice is to stick Sami Zayn in the match. Which means they can't commit Sami to another match on the card (let's say vs. Gunther) until they know about Seth. And so on with the entire card affected. The same goes for whatever they want to do with Seth in the Roman/Rock/Cody feud. They're afraid to get fans excited about something they might have to cancel.

For everyone that wants to or sees Seth working two matches this weekend.
Isn't he still injured bad and it's a risk for him even to work the match against Drew?
Just play it safe and let Seth do the job with the title, heal up and come back later in the Spring/Summer and we get the Seth/Cody vs. Rock/Roman mega match at Summerslam.
Book it like the 1992 mega match of Warrior/Savage vs. Flair/Ramon.

For everyone that wants to or sees Seth working two matches this weekend. They probably shouldn't, Drew McIntyre putting him down to win the WHC will be enough.

He was never actually at risk to miss Mania like his promo said.

Cena won’t be wrestling at Mania according to the Observer due to filming, but it’s possible he can come in for a non-risky appearance on the show.

There’s still plenty of time left I suppose, but anyone else feel like outside Cody/Roman, the build for this has kinda been lackluster and the card doesn’t really feel all that epic for a major milestone edition of mania?

I think the build has been great so far (we are still 5 weeks away and just finished the last PPV before this show). The card as far as star power is hurt a bit by losing Punk and Lesnar who were ticketed for two big matches. Cody-Roman and Becky-Rhea feel like huge deals, as will whatever match Rock is in.

I feel like they're doing a really bad job of building up much in the way of undercard matches for this show. I guess kind of Judgment Day / Awesome Truth, though that's kind of fallen off the past couple weeks, but past that, like, it felt like this week's shows didn't even really acknowledge Jey / Jimmy at all.

Jimmy-Jey won’t take much to heat up, it’s been told over the course of over a year essentially. Awesome Truth-JD has been building for a while. The build to Orton-Paul-KO is ongoing and likely will take the next step at Logan’s next appearance. Gunther’s challenger is being built up with all of Zayn, Gable, Dom seemingly wanting a shot. Styles-Knight just started heating up. Rey-Santos has been built well, if that’s going to be a Mania match. Plus we already have the 4 world title matches being built, along with the tag match. The only real question mark is maybe the women’s tag titles but with Jade staring down Damage CTRL, maybe that Jade/Bianca super team against the Kabuki Warriors will happen.

Do we really need “showcases?” I’d rather see more single matches. Annoying trope for sure, but I’d rather revisit Aldis vs Pearce and have them pick some guys for a match for brand supremacy than a generic fatal four exhibition match

We know Aldis can still work, Pearce should get in one match as a thank for his work kind of thing.

I'd guess Roman/Rock win the tag then HHH or Aldis can be like okay it's officially Bloodline rules for night 2 which means anyone can be ringside/interfere/etc...but you idiots worded this contract in such a way that literally anyone can get involved, not just to help the Bloodline.
Drew tries to interfere because he's the ultimate hypocrite/player hater but is taken out by Seth. Jimmy is taken out by Jey. Solo is taken out by Sami and/or KO. Heyman is taken out by HHH. Rock is taken out by Austin (if that's too much of a pipe dream then Seth instead and Drew isn't involved). After all the shenanigans Roman and Cody are left alone and Cody gets the win...unless Jacob Fatu pops out from the under the ring wearing a hoodie.
