I mean what is "one more bump"? I find it hard to believe taking a hip toss = instant death Half-nelson, heart explodes Somebody puts Mick in an Arm bar and he just dies immediately

What if, they have the match...but swerve bro...when the bell rings, Foley pulls out a gun and bang bang! Cardona's shot dead. Deathmatch. Bam!

I think Foley could have an overbooked mess of a death match where he doesn’t actually take any head shots or bumps, but just takes moves standing up and bleeds.
And Foley said it would be a good incentive for him to lose 100 pounds (he’d want to do the match when he turns 60 in 2025) so I think if he actually did lose all that weight that would go much further in improving his quality of life than the negative of him wrestling a gimmick match where he doesn’t really bump.

Pretty much. Something like Nick Gage and Foley vs. Cardona and Jimmy Lloyd where the two actual deathmatch guys do virtually all the work, Cardona does enough to justify the match's existence, and then Foley breaks a few light tubes on a hot tag, and maybe takes one or two tubes himself so it isn't too much of a farce, and then he wraps some barbed wire around Socko and puts one of the heels in the Claw for the win might actually work, and if it gets Foley to drop 100+ pounds, would work out as a net positive for his health. Just don't do what Flair tried to do and actually try to work a real match when you know you can't, and enjoy the easy 2000-ish fan sellout that can pack the Terminal room at the Showboat.

I might be the only one in the world that would rather see a Dude Love comedy match.

I might be the only one in the world that would rather see a Dude Love comedy match. If Mick insists on wrestling this is what he needs to be doing. Cactus Jack, Mankind, and Hardcore legend Mick Foley isn’t it anymore. Dude really just needs to stay home though. I’m sure that his brain and body are complete trash and he’s way overweight which won’t help his health issues. thanks for the memories Mick, now keep your ass at home.

The whole point for him is to have something that gives him the incentive to drop 100 lbs, like when he had that Mania run-in against the League of Nations. He was contacted about that many months before and was able to drop 80 lbs I believe.

Cool, but maybe he should take up a different hobby because even if he drops 100 pounds his body and brain are still trash from years of wrestling. Mick was one of my favorites for a long time but he should take up cycling or something. lol

Genuine question, not intended to be snarky - and no offence to those worried for Mick Foley's wellbeing! But is there any precedent of a wrestler doing themself serious damage in a one-off post retirement match? (Other than Mickey Rourk in The Wrestler...)
I totally get it when people compete beyond their prime in boxing or MMA, or in wrestling with a full-time schedule.
Maybe I'm naive but I'm a bit surprised people think old guys can't have a one-off pretend fight - especially with another experienced hand.

Jay Lethal was more or lesser tasked with making sure that Ric didn’t die. lol

Foley talked more about the reasons: Personally I think that this is a mistake for Foley to do this considering his brain is mashed potatoes and the rest of his body is a wreck. I always got the impression that Foley couldn’t take one more bump anymore because his neurosurgeon said that one more bump could be fatal because his brain is so scrambled. Also remember the brain CAN’T heal.

Also remember the brain CAN’T heal. I think he’s right that losing 100 pounds will be a million times better for his health than a “death match” where he likely takes no real bumps and just gets cut up a bunch will be detrimental to him. And the brain does heal.

Many legends are remembered for their official farewell matches. But usually, that doesn't turn out to be their last match, and many fans can't remember their real final match.
Mick had a great retirement match when he lost the HIAC to Triple H. I doubt most fans remember what his real last match was.

I'd normally say he's looking for attention but seeing Austin back for a match and Rock about to be in Mania makes him think he can too. Ego is a weird thing when it comes to your peers.
Edit: If it's just a way for him to publicly lock himself into losing weight and needing motivation, then go for it. If the match never happens all the better.
