this seems like a stupid decision, so it's on brand for tna given the company's history of stupid decisions.
hoping it is something as simple as differing visions for the future of the company and not anything unsavoury (given recent wrestling business news anything is possible).

Which is why using the word "terminated" is really doing him dirty if nothing went on beyond just moving in a different direction.

Just posted that in the TNA thread. Means one of 2 things IMO. 1) Anthem wants to cut back spending 2) Anthem and D'Amore just had different visions for TNA I think WWE is either acquiring TNA or doing some kind of partnership. My feeling with this started when TNA did the deal to move their shows to an Endeavor platform. Then Jordynne Grace showing up at the Rumble. That felt like a good faith gesture by WWE. Now D'Amore is fired and his was replaced by someone that has no background in wrestling. I could be way off, but I could see TNA and NXT doing a lot of cross overs later this year.

The choice to terminate seems weird and makes me wonder if there's more to the story. Surely it would make more sense with this corporate realignment to keep Scott on in some capacity right?

Damn. Deciding to skip WK this year confirmed its no longer going to be the promotion I binge once a year.
Tna, Stardom and wwe (in that order) were leading the way to replace them a few weeks ago.

Very shocked, he's been building TNA backup, went back to the old name and have gotten the most attention they've had in years, this is a very dumb move

Woah. That's... I'm stunned. If I'm TK or Hunter I'm making calls to Canada right now to try and bring Scott on board. Err...no. I'd be getting far more information about why Anthem let him go before reaching out to onboard D'Amore. The timing suggests that Anthem may have been looking into the TNA staff once the Vince McMahon news broke. First if you'd read this has been rumored for weeks and has more to do with corporate synergy bs than imagined impropriety. Plus there has not to my knowledge been a whiff of anything bad about D'Amore unlike the decades of knowledge about Vince and Co. Second, in no way do I mean they hire him today, obviously he'd have to go through a hiring process that includes background checks, especially having to get work visa and shit.

What the actual f***?? This only makes sense if a) Anthem realized they don't actually want TNA to be anything except cheap programming going forward despite spending the past year+ doing a massive rebuild and brand overhaul or b) D'Amore did something reprehensible and they needed to cut ties ASAP.
B would shock the shit out of me, it's not like TNA has ever not had every single little backstage incident leaked to the legit newz sources and I've never heard anything except wonderful things about working with D'Amore, especially from women.

So is it just me or does this bit in particular sound very Not Good for TNA It can only either mean that they bought a wrestling company almost a decade ago and weren't super sure they wanted to embrace it, or it's about to get embraced by the kind of hug you get at an anime con by someone who you don't know yet is going to spend the next four years ruining your life. Neither is very good.

Tony or Hunter should look at getting in touch with Scott.

I’m thinking there was a skeleton that got uncovered. After Vince went down, the mentality could be that nobody is beyond consequences. I don’t want to speculate, but it sounds like there was (allegedly?) a moral character issue that merits a firing?

I know it will never happen because Tony wont let anyone else run things, but I'd love to see what he could do booking AEW.

If Scott D'Amore was a sex pest, that'd come completely out of nowhere. There's never really been any sleazy rumors about him. If anything, it seems like the wrestlers, especially the Knockouts, really like and respect him. Anthem has also shown it could be really petty in the way it treats its employees and talent in the past, like the whole Killer Kross and Lady Frost situations. So I don't think their choice of "termination" necessarily means any impropriety on D'Amore's part.
I wouldn't read too much into that. Lots of smaller MMA promotions have their shows on Endeavor platforms, but otherwise have no real relationship with UFC. Maybe the continuation of having the current Knockouts Champion have a good showing in the Rumble and maybe a couple of guest appearances, but that's it.

Yeah, from what's been reported so far and various other comments, it's back to being lolAnthem. It's Owlgate all over again, but bigger and even worse decisions are being made. They were making something of themselves again and making money.
