I was watching LILO and stitch and when it ended, and the credits played, I was blasted by S club 7 singing their version of Only fools rush in, and it was crazy whiplash. That song played nowhere in the main movie, it’s had nothing to do with the theme of the movie, and it doesn’t match the vibe of the movie. Other than it being an Elvis song, it has no connection with the movie and didnt play in the body of the movie.
Then I remembered Kiss from a rose by Seal. Great song, what the hell does it have to do with Batman? It has absolutely no connection with the rest of Batman forever except, it just randomly starts playing during the end credits.
At least smash mouth played their songs in the final scene of shriek and bled into the credits.
Any others stick out at you?

"Funky Shit" by The Prodigy in the credits for Event Horizon. Banger tune, but nothing to do with the movie at all.

Pokemon The First Movie has "Don't Say You Love Me" as one of it's main end credits songs, despite the fact there is no romance between any character in the film.

Dare To Be Stupid by Weird Al in the 80s Transformers movie. It's a song with lyrics consisting of pop culture references played over a chase scene where characters who speak exclusively in pop culture references attack the protagonists. It's arguably the most fitting music cue in the movie.

Not exactly the same thing, but due to the Waititi movies we've come to associate Thor with like 70's/80's hard rock songs. So when re-watching the first movie it's kinda jarring to suddenly hear "Walk" by the Foo Fighters playing.

Nickelodeon hyped the shit out of this. But what does it have to do with kids getting the day off from school for a snow day?

Obviously the song was relevant, but An American Werewolf In London ending with David being killed and Alex crying only to abruptly go to the credits with The Marcels happy sounding version of Blue Moon was unexpected and hilarious.

"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid feels super out of place, even though it was written for the film.

Everything I Do, I Do It For You from the Robin Hood movie
How does a power ballad fit into the Robin Hood setting?

I guess technically the Sting song from Emperor's New Groove considering it was written for a completely different movie...

Everything I Do, I Do It For You from the Robin Hood movie How does a power ballad fit into the Robin Hood setting? In a similar vein, Disney's 1993 The Three Musketeers featured this grand sweeping love ballad called "All For Love", jointly sung by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting. A very odd choice for a movie that doesn't really have any kind of love story to speak of.

The tie in movie songs are always pretty lose to the actual movie. Unless the movie is a comedy or a love story cause those are pretty easy for musicians to write songs for..
But any other genre.. Horror, action, sci-fi, fantasy, or set in any time period in the past or future it's going to look out of place. It also depends on the genre of the music too.
But either way if your gonna hitch your song to movie.. In so it's going to promoted with the movie, and the official music video is going to have clips of the movie.. And will be forever associated with that movie… just hope either the movie is a big hit, or you song becomes a bigger hit and becomes better remembered then the movie itself. Or you become Roxette’s “Almost Unreal”. Now if you don't know already, before you play the video below.. Try and guess what movie this song had a tie to…
Nothing against that song, it's pretty good actually, and I don't know how it did back in the day.. But you don't hear it as often as their big hits.

Wasn’t there an n sync song set to the soundtrack to a Pokémon movie? It was weird as hell there’s a soundtrack of American pop hits to a Japanese anime that originally didn’t have it

Terminator 2 had Guns n’ Roses’ You Could Be Mine, and the music video had a lot of clips from the movie. While a lot of people believe it was written for the movie, in reality, Arnold just liked it and lobbied for it to be put in.

Westlife had "Flying Without Wings" for Pokemon 2000...that kind of fit given Ash was riding Lugia

What does "Burning Heart" by Survivor have to do with a love story between an alcoholic slob and a lady robot?

The song "Run With Us" by Lisa Lougheed, a Canadian classic, the theme song for the fondly remembered cartoon series "The Raccoons", was used for the end credits of "Hobo With A Shotgun".
