Death Wish Darby never fails deliver. Has he done legit stunt work? Skateboarders are weird.

My top 3 of dumb Darby shit are:
1. Swanton onto chairs from super tall ladder vs. Jeff Hardy. How he is still walking after that bump is beyond me. 2. Steel steps spot(s) in his match with Christian. The only time I've seen "why did I do this" written on his face. 3. This glass spot everyone is talking about.
It was grisly but I thought the Page vs. Swerve Texas Deathmatch was more viscerally disturbing.
Also at this point if Darby doesn't coffin drop off the top of Everest what are we even doing?

I know its kinda cliche and he has said he is "half dead" already
But I legit believe Darby just doesnt care if he lives or dies. He is gonna do what he wants and thats is honestly part of his appeal, many thing will of course think he is dumb but there is an admirable, authentic, quality to it.

Good they made it as safe as possible.
It was still dumb and dangerous. Darby's choice, sure, but still.
Remove it from the match, and the match loses nothing. Darby himself loses nothing, either. Gains a few braincells back, maybe.

So what's the ballpark for the amount of the words "Are you sure?" said to Darby between when the match was first put together right up to the show itself, 15? 20? 35?

I’m starting to think that if it weren’t for Owen’s accident, Darby would find a way to dive out of the rafters onto someone.
And he’d probably land on something dangerous in the process.

I'd say "No, don't be silly" but then I just remembered Darby Allin did this once. So you're probably not wrong.

There is only one safety lines that AEW has ever crossed and it was that dumb Matty Hard spot. Everything else is pearl clutching Posts like this make me frustrated. I don't get posts like this on forums where the point is to have a discussion. Why outright dismiss the other opinion? Is the goal to have an echo chamber or what is a forum meant to be for you if not a discussion of different opinions? This spot was dangerous to the audience watching and in that way arguably crossed safety lines. People pointing this out are not "pearl clutching".

AEW (and most wrestling companies) should have a stunt coordinator on the payroll full time if they don't already, IMO. Get a professional assessing everything dangerous and helping to structure the spots so they're as safe as possible.

Already for the ones without context literacy: I was clearly talking to the set of posts above me about the Dave whatever Article of A LINE THAT SHOULD NEVER BE CROSSED. Regards the spot could be done without the risk of glass flying even if the only real risk of the tempred glass is flying into the eyes or if someone is barefoot.Tempered Glass: (Of course if you jump on it from the top of ladder it will still stab you in many spots) So no, its not A LINE THAT SHOULD NEVER BE CROSSED

I mean, considering how well it went, if I were TK, I'd hire that stunt coordinator.

Everything else is pearl clutching The level of pearl clutching for this spot in particular is melting my brain. It wasn’t a safe spot by any means, but I don’t think it’s even the most dangerous spot Darby himself had ever done. I think the bump onto the stairs at WrestleDream was worse because he wasn’t in control of how he fell. The fact that I’ve seen multiple posts on Reddit about how AEW should go out of business for this “negligence” just proves how disingenuous the discourse surrounding AEW has gotten over the last year or so, to me. I guarantee that the people who say that AEW should go out of business because of the Darby spot on Sunday would respond with anger and indignation if you were to say that WWE should have gone out of business after Owen died.

And Darby would be fine because I have faith that the people who would approve of Darby diving off the rafters would make sure he was as safe as possible. Unlike the people who approved of Owen's stunt who didn't give a shit about Owen's safety.

I know it sounds like hyperbole, but if you ever happen to make a right turn at Albuquerque and end up places like r/rasslin and r/JimCornette, you'll quickly see that I am honestly probably selling it short.

For me, I don't care if Darby wants to do stuff like this. It's his choice and if he gets hurt, his fault.
But that was pure recklessness to do that so close to the crowd. One of those moments that shows AEWs youth sadly.

It’s not the kind of thing that should ever be done again, but at a certain point we’ve got to stop anticipating that Darby is going to badly f*** himself up. I wouldn’t call it concern trolling. It’s more like . . . not trusting that Darby knows what’s best for himself or his body. He still is one of the least injured guys on the roster! He hasn’t had to take months off from one of these things, and even came out of this one with a surprisingly low number of stitches. At a certain point just trust the guy.

I feel this is Dr House situation Darby knows best but you still someone to reign the most insane stupid ideas that are the most dangerous.Like any other person would be perfectly sensible to say "no ,dont" and you still need to just keep him a little in check
