In 2024, they've managed to make a spinoff of Good Times that feels more offensive than the original Good Times, a show that debuted a decade after segregation ended. I have no words. Also, slapping Norman Lear's name on this abortion when he is no longer here to speak for himself feels like something somebody should sue over. Good Times was never offensive, they may have shown struggles in the 70s but the family loved each other and the show was uplifting and ended with them all moving into better places and lives. Getting out of the ghetto which they had fought to do.
Both John Amos and Esther Rolle would disagree, and each eventually left the show for that very reason:

Oh wow. I don't remember Esther leaving too. And we thought Urkel taking over Family Matters was bad! At least he never ran Carl out of town, nor Harriet (well, kinda...)
I'll take the time to say, I did like Mrs. Naugatuck on Maude...

When the hell could JJ "not read or write"? Especially since he was a comic book writer and artist

Is there any confirmation that Lear was involved in this at all before his death, or is he just credited because he produced the original? I've not seen the original. I remember watching a lot of 70s shows on TV Land as a kid, but if Good Times was in the rotation I must have missed it. But that being said, even without the association, this just looks awful. It's the worst parts of animated comedies from the past 15 years with a garish presentation.

Again, if Seth wanted to do a POC animated series in his style, JUST RESUME THE DAMN CLEVELAND SHOW. Though it's unlikely as that's been the butt of Family Guy jokes for years now, so I doubt he sees value in that.

I was originally going to respond with "he's only one of two (living) producers, I doubt he's the driving force," but then I watched the trailer again and his influence is everywhere. Whether that's him asserting control or the lasting influence of Family Guy on animated sitcoms, I dunno. It's frustrating. I like American Dad but even that got better as it moved away from his formula.

You can't exactly just revive a show that was cancelled. for one I'm sure fox owns some sort of rights to it.

This doesn’t look anything like a Seth McFarlane animation, I’m so lost here. Not the say it doesn’t look like hot garbage, but I feel like as someone else said, the EPs are producers in name (“I like you and your idea, I’ll back you up.”).
Would the show runner, Ranata Shepard, not be the driving creative force?

*sees Seth McFarlane's name on it* That explains everything Honestly I assume he is more of an executive figure for name only. Even at his worst on The Cleveland Show it wasnt as stereotypical or badly animated

Just because Santa Inc and Velma chose to race to the bottom of the toxic waste filled lake doesn’t mean you gotta drag a popular piece of 70s nostalgia into it, Netflix.
We know you’re probably planning a horrible All In The Family animated remix where Meathead is eating his own barf, we’re not interested.
