This whole storyline sucks Sami wins, it feels completely weak and GUNTHER's reign ends on a fart GUNTHER wins, Sami looks like a loser who took advice from the guy who couldn't beat GUNTHER in the first place GUNTHER vs Gable should have been the damn match. Trips is falling into the same trap as the previous regime. Instead of booking the show for the fans, many of the matches are created so they can get as many big names on the show as possible. We all love Sami, but this feud is just not his place. He was put there because he was a bigger name than Gable and they had nothing else for him to do.

Actually you’re leaving out a key fact: Gable is the only person in to have a singles win against Gunther since he won the belt (not including DQ victories). He may not have sealed the deal, but he’s the only other person to come closest to taking the belt from him. Ok that's fair But that's also why I wish this was just Gable... like the hole here is Gable didn't beat GUNTHER for the big one, and it feels like that's where the story was, not Sami losing, losing, and losing some more and deciding he'd try for the IC title because he failed to get the WHC, because... that's how this storyline started, and that's why it also doesn't feel impactful to me, not in a way where it feels like GUNTHER should lose the belt either. It felt like Sami was put here for a Mania match and they don't believe in Gable enough, and they should, because he was perfect for this storyline, not as a coach, but the damn OPPONENT.

I get it's not really that good but whatever. I don't expect Sami to win but if he does then it's probably to start setting GUNTHER up for a world title run this summer. If Sami loses then GUNTHER can drop it to Gable or Ilja or Ivar or Reed or something. There's things on this card that bother me far more than this. Now if this is to turn Gable heel for no reason then I'll be bothered. Honestly, I am thinking Gable gets to beat GUNTHER, but it's not happening at 'Mania because GUNTHER isn't going to lose at 'Mania. Ending his reign and Roman's at the same time would be a waste. Sami's thing is that he has lamented if being a world champion is in the cards for him. Drew, someone who has made loathing Sami his business, is probably going to win a world title off of Seth. The line forward for Sami seems pretty simple, plus he's been IC champion multiple times and his reigns haven't been anything special.

Supposedly up until two hours before the show the plan was for Jey to beat Gunther when he challenged him, so kind of wondering if they just don't really see ending his reign as that huge a deal and something they can easily do on some random Raw. Which if they don't end it at Mania they're probably going to have to do given there isn't a PPV he can appear on until SummerSlam.

As it stands, doing it on a Raw would be more impactful than doing it when people are going to just kind of gloss over due to Roman's match where, if he wins or loses, his reign length is the story, not GUNTHER's. This is probably going to be a filler defense for him, so if Jey beats him, all the more reason to have Sami get this match instead.

… So it is dumb to take advice from someone who lost to Gunther…but also the match should be Gunther vs that person who lost? This answers a lot of questions about why you Stan the things you do. Erm... Yes? Yes. Gable should've won and also Sami taking advice from him when he keeps losing to Gunther is dumb. That's not contradictory, it's just two stupid booking decisions involving the same person. Do all NFL teams have coaches who have won the Super Bowl? Or boxers have trainers who were world champions? I don't get why this is so glaringly dumb.

Because there's kind of a world of difference between, "Teach me the general skillset for this job," and, "Guide me to do this one specific thing." Gable isn't training Zayn to be a wrestler, he's training him to beat Gunther and win the Intercontinental title, which are things Gable has not done and in the latter case is a thing Sami himself HAS done more than once. Plus Sami beat Gable a few weeks ago after beating two other guys before him, getting beaten down in the middle of doing that, and during Ramadan. It doesn't make any sense that Sami would be having this crisis of confidence or that the dude who he pretty damn decisively beat who has never actually been a major player would have some sage advice to offer him. The whole thing is basically the same as if we were getting vignettes of Cody being trained on how to beat Roman by LA Knight, it adds nothing to the plot and doesn't make any sense, it's just bringing in someone really not at all actually on his level just because he's had a beef with the same guy recently and then treating him like an expert in the subject when he didn't really accomplish anything.

But... there isn't world of difference between those two things. Andy Reid didn't teach Patrick Mahomes how to play football. Tyson Fury's coach didn't teach him how to box. They're world class athletes to begin who have achieved far more than their coach has. There are literal examples in boxing where a fighter ends up being coached by someone he fought and beat earlier in his career. They're two different skillsets. Which isn't to say you personally have to think this is a good story or like it. But in terms of 'this is dumb and illogical'... it happens in the real world every day in every sport.

It's amazing how cjb has this reputation of being a "hostile" poster, yet the people who continuously troll him and even follow him into threads and different areas of the board get to do so without any form of reprimand.
