Nope. I don't think he should be rewarded with a world title run after being one half of the worst WrestleMania match since the post-pandemic era.
Give him more time in the upper mid-card, let him continue to find his voice and abilities as a singles competitor, see if the crowd continues to ride with him, then you give him a world championship run.

Dude is hella over, but I don't know if they'll strap him up. He strikes me as a guy who's always so close, main events sometimes, and is just over but not "the guy". Think like a Ken Shamrock level.

Jey has been VERY hit and miss, especially in bigger PLE matches. That could very well be the result of bad finishes, or even booking (Jimmy vs. Jey was heatless in JANUARY). So, I'm not sure if it's the angles or the agents/producers he has, but something has to change.
He clearly has talent and is engaging as a character. I also really like his personality outside the ring (see his "unscripted" interviews and videos with Jackie on the NHL's Youtube page, which are hilarious).
Should his match with Priest indeed happen in France, this match will see to prove if he is anything more than a "great TV match wrestler" in singles matches. I don't think he doesn't have it. His match with Gunther, finish aside, proves he does. Something's missing, though, and it's up to WWE not to make the same mistakes again or risk fans turning on him.
