Can I ask why? It’s a newsworthy event that someone else will start a thread about if this is deleted. Because I know its a touchy subject and I don't want to offend anyone. I am in no means praising him It's not a touchy subject, no one is offended and no one is praising him. The thread is fine.

Norm MacDonald up in Heaven right now doing one heck of a Weekend Update episode. “This week’s big story; Murder is now legal in the state of California.” I would recommend the absolutely brilliant Oscar-winning documentary “OJ: Made in America” to anyone who hasn’t seen it. Just a fascinating deep dive into not only OJ himself but the history of Los Angeles, race and the judicial system, everything that went into that trial and verdict

OJ was a great RB, one of the best to ever do it. Unfortunately for him being good at football isn’t near as important as what happens off the field.
He also almost with 100% certainty murdered two innocent people and got away with it due to having good lawyers, shit police work, and some other factors.
RIP to Ron and Nicole.

Bear in mind that Ron Goldman’s dad is still alive. Can’t imagine how he is feeling today

Won a very well-deserved Oscar for it.

The OJ Simpson chase happened June 17, 1994. I was 14 years old and in Reno with my family that day. My brother and I were too young to gamble and bored out of our minds. We returned to our hotel room figuring we'd just watch TV or something. That's when the chase was happening.
Where were all of you that day? How many of you were even born?

Don't remember where I was during the chase since I didn't really pay attention to the story until it had gotten to the trial. But I remember being in lunch in elementary school when the verdict came in.

Sunny jailed, OJ gone...justice when did you wake up?
What else?
Well, I really liked that Kato Kaelin "Day-O" parody that Comedy Central used to run during commercials. It was on like a dozen times during MST3K.
Can we get the lost Adventures in Wonderland episode now?
I got nothing else.

I don't remember what Dad and I were doing that day, but we got back to my Grandma's house and my Grandma and Mum were watching the chase on the TV. I was 2 weeks shy of my 8th birthday, so I can't say I remember a tonne of it but I distinctly remember seeing it on TV. And the trial, my Mum was a stay at home Mum so I came home for lunch most days and instead of watching All My Children we would watch the trial alot of days at lunch. Pretty sure the verdict actually came down while I was home that day

the public arc of oj is so... i don't know how to call it. from beloved hero --> hated villain --> symbol that showed the abuses of the lapd --> back to hated villain --> quirky public figure that gives sports takes with mase and cam'ron. it's a lot going on here

I watched most of the chase as it happened. My dad & brother were watching the Knicks/Rockets game when it cut in and yelled for me to come watch. It’s really morbid to think about watching it now, given that I think everyone watching was sure OJ was going to kill hinself or the cops would shoot him.
I got to see the verdict live in school the next year (I was 14/15 through this whole saga). The way they handled it was the government classes got a TV and all the other rooms would send someone to watch and report back. I happened to be in government class when they read it, so we just watched tv the whole period.

Bye bye OJ, without you Piper vs. Goldust clocks under 5 minutes.
I'm not for AI taking over everything, but having a computerized Norm on this week's Weekend Update spouting OJ jokes would be one case where it's worth it.
