Dr. Evil is many times more famous than the Bond villain he parodied, Blofeld. Despite Blofeld inspiring so many villains and tropes, way more people are gonna know Dr. Evil than Blofeld.

Michael Jackson’s parody “Beat It” of Weird Al’s “Eat It” is still the bigger song. Judging by the responses to this post I guess I am the only one who gets it.

More of a copy/homage than a parody, but Scooby-Doo has definitely outlived the shows that inspired it - The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis which inspired the individual members of the Scooby Gang, and The Archie Show and The Hardy Boys which inspired the premise (the Scooby Gang was originally even going to be a band like the Archies, hence traveling from town to town in a van).

Are you sure? "I Want It That Way" by BSB is still pretty iconic as far as I can tell. Yeah you're right, I was thinking more of the Britney Spears bit, Sometimes isn't one of more popular songs. Most of them Blink outlasted. Top of my head there's the shiny shirts and the camo pants/body armour ones. I'm guessing 1 of them us 98 Degrees or LFO or something but they didn't cross over, I only know of them because of American acts taking the piss out of them.

Deadpool, originally he was just a copycat of Deathstroke in both outfit and personalty, even having similar names, yet he became far more popular and iconic than Deathstroke ever was.

YMMV, but for me Dragonball Z Abridged has surpassed the original Dragonball Z.

This edit has probably been seen by more people at this point than the original Police Squad. On a similar note, Police Squad is now probably better remembered than a lot of the 70's cop shows it was parodying.

Here's an outside-the-box one: Jack Nicholson saying "Here's Johnny!" in the style of Ed McMahon. Even though Johnny Carson and his version of The Tonight Show is still very well known, that parody-esque clip from The Shining is one of the most famous and widely recognizable movie clips of all time.

In the US, I wouldn't be surprised if Team America is more well known than Thunderbirds and the rest of the Supermarionation shows. I don't think that's the case here in the UK though. Yeah, Team America in the UK is largely irrelevant to the point that at one point a radio DJ got called out for stealing a bit of playing a soundbite of the Matt Damon thing every time Matt Damon made the news, and having to point out it's from a film, not from a different radio DJ who was doing the same thing.

I'm not sure how well known Thunderbirds is in America overall but they did play it on Fox in the 90's and there have been other reruns of it elsewhere since then (and there was a remake at one point with cg graphics I think) .
The rest of Supermarionation stuff has not to my knowledge, but Team America was specifically Thunderbirds. Trey and Matt originally tried to get the rights to make a Thunderbirds movie were told that someone else already made one recently... they were going to drop the idea until they then heard that it was a 100% live Action movie and thought what the hell was the point of that?
though my favorite story on production was they had to show basically the first footage to Paramount ... so the Director of course showed what became the opening shot of the French Puppet show, causing an executive to allegedly yell out "THEY f***ED US!"
