in retrospect I'm kinda shocked that Vince didn't book an angle about Batista having a huge dick

Yeah, the 2015 Rumble wasn't just on Bryan losing. The entire thing was very specifically structured to make sure nobody but Roman came out of it looking any good at all.
Probably why they did that weird shit with Rusev lying on the floor then coming back in just to lose, so that it'd be Roman easily tossing a non-entity as opposed to the people who had been dominating the match because Kane and Big Show might have looked decent the other way around.

A lot of stuff comes down to his lack of taste, but Zelina Vega being cut from the 9/11 show because of shit time management is easily in top 10 contention for outright dumbest booking decision. Even Vince himself was mortified and, according to Zelina, profusely apologized, and this came before she got the Queen of the Ring and tag belts, probably as a "uhh whoops". Not that either of those things undo how indefensibly stupid that was, granted....

And Roman didn’t even look good. The only reason he eliminated Kane and Big Show was because they decided to bicker and argue and he had to be bailed out by his famous cousin when they attacked him. Nobody came out of that Rumble looking any way credible, not even Dwayne Johnson.

One I just remembered - when they kept having women do submissions on top of the announce table. Dumbest probably being the PTO where the victim isn’t even touching the table.

Oon't forget Sheamus doing the Irish Curse on the steel steps... you know the move where the opponent lands on Sheamus's Knee...

Exactly. It might (probably) have still failed if they just had Roman actually overcome Kane and Big Show on his own, but having to eliminate them like a coward heel was mystifying.

The shocked eyebrow from The Rock still haunts my sleep.

But those 2 guys at that point... Even if they'd just swapped them for Harper and Rowan tossing people it would have been an improvement.

Going further back, but basically making Diesel a white meat Face in 1995 when that wasn't where his strength lay in the slightest. Squandering Hakushi is another thing as well.

Eh, he did *fine* in the role, but your point stands. Tweener Diesel circa the end of 1995/very early 96 would have worked a lot better

There were a few ways to use him that were better.

Continuing to push a particular babyface champion either when the fans weren't sold on the idea or when the fans quickly tired of the idea.

Not giving Booker/Braun/Cessaro/insert wrestler here the belt at the peak of their popularity.

Being fair I've kind of always thought that you can't really put the 2001 business dropping just on Austin turning. All in short order you had that, Rock bouncing to go make movies, Triple H and Benoit getting injured, and to a lesser extent Chyna leaving, plus the whole Taker and Kane as the new top faces thing was kind of severely hampered by how they'd just had a breakup and feud a few months prior so it was pretty damn difficult to buy into them being a meaningful alliance. There were a lot of things going wrong at once at that time.

There isn’t anything inherently bad about pushing someone as a white meat babyface. Problem is that Vince would push someone as such even though that’s not how someone got over in the first place.

Six pages and i'm surprised no one mentioned Jinder Mahal's sudden world title push. Not only was he a career jobber, but it was also to attract a market in India. What's more idiotic is despite being a cowardly heel who relies on his lackeys to bail him out, the Hindi and Punjabi commentary teams portray him as a face.
