maybe i'm just being quick to judge but I wish that answer had gone a little differently. idk maybe i'm being too sensitive about it but I didn't really want to hear the usual great plans for the year and acting like it is surprising with how this country is going just reeks of living under a rock. i think TK is still a very good man at heart and i'm not like, actually upset but i don't know. probably not getting the context with it written or something. I think a lot of people were expecting a pretty fiery remark from Tony, but that’s just them projecting their emotions on the situation on to him. Nothing wrong with feeling strongly about it, but I don’t feel like it’s in TK’s nature to start flame throwing Oklahoma without extending the opportunity of a peaceful conversation first.

Yeah, the decision has only just been made by the Athletic Commission. It would be nice for Khan to be definitive about running Oklahoma or not right now but it's probably too soon.
There may be bookings made or in progress already, he might want to talk it over with Nyla, they may consider running there and donating money to a trans charity, there are a million reasons why saying something with 100% certainty so soon is a bad idea.

TK’s words are PR-laden, which is expected, but he did the most crucial thing he needed to which was state that he and the company supported not just Nyla but all transgender people in sports. It’s a simple gesture but one that is never a guarantee in the current landscape.

I care more about his vocal support for Nyla than making any definitive decisions at the moment. That and support for trans athletes in sports beyond just the wrestling world. Even that feels like it's big in this current environment, which is a pretty sad state.
What I really would like to see is a unified response from the industry in general, but my cynicism makes me think it won't happen.

Without divulging too much into the matter, I'm against the idea of refusing to run shows in the state just because of this commission of losers.
It would erase the LGBTQ+ community and activists fighting for real positive change there. Queer and trans people in Southern states aren't disposable.

TK gave a perfectly acceptable answer. I'm sure this took him by surprise and he still needs to figure out how to approach the situation. Could be he has his legal team sit down with the dipshits and tries to appeal the decision before he decides to tell the state with the lowest education in the country to go f*** itself.
Hell, even the talent on social media and Nyla herself have given even keel answers, even going so far as to give out the email to the commission but implore people not to go in guns blazing.

You said it better than I've been trying to say it. Far too often the online discourse when reacting to stupid legislation or what have you is basically either pretending that red and purple states don't also have LGBTQ+ folks or being like "well just move" which is unhelpful at best and downright patronizing at worst.

Interesting statistics on that note: two of the LGBTQ+ friendliest cities in the country are Salt Lake City and New Orleans.

I definitely appreciate the support Tony gave here, any amount helps, but I agree that it would have been nice to go a little harder. Not to burn bridges in a state, not to set fire to something or cause an incident, but if there were ever a time to be Poster Tony and actually light a fire for a good cause, maybe rouse up some genuine PR, it'd be now. Or to even just book Nyla, given she's been in ROH exile since November. A lot of ugly shit is going on and it's with the intention of removing queer people entirely from public life and then life at all, and we do need locker rooms like AEW's and bosses like Tony, but we also need people to be loud and angry.

Considering this is the same state that responded to the death of a trans student recently by doing nothing about it, and then going on record to say "they didn't want that filth (referring trans people to that)" in their state, I'd be more than happy to tell them to go f*** themselves.
As long as they hold that stance, I wouldn't bother holding any events there.

Not everyone can afford to pack up & move either. People need to realize that too.

So we were A-OK with MLB and usually incompetent Rob Manfred moving the All Star Game out of Atlanta because of the state's actions but suddenly it is punishing the local people and an indictment of how others feel about people in southern states when this happens if a wrestling company dares to consider not doing shows in a place that is likely a danger to one of their talent?
Cool. Right on.

I think my personal spite move in with all of this would be to do some women's tournament where you have Nyla and some other available trans woman make it to the finals, taking place in Oklahoma, and then announce in advance you're donating the gate from the show to a trans charity. Kind of technically following their stupid bigoted-ass directive while doing everything you can to tell them to f*** themselves in regards to it.

Cool. Right on. FWIW, MLB doesn't seem to care enough to stick by that because they're holding the ASG there in 2025, and I don't think that Georgia's rescinded the cause of their action in 2021 either. And it's not like Manfred did that out of the goodness of his heart, too. He was put under a lot of pressure from political groups and the players' union to take some sort of action at the time.
Basically, I almost never expect the corporate class to take proactive moral stands unless it's something that directly affects their person or someone really close to them. I do think if enough AEW talent expresses discomfort with or refusal to work an Oklahoma show, especially taking Nyla's feelings into consideration, they won't book venues there in the near future.

Nyla vs VENY would be a pretty rad final, or Abadon, but I am sure the latter would just result in Oklahoma misgendering them, naturally.

Agree 100%, these people don't deserve a peaceful negotiation. Any policy of appeasement towards these types never works out well. By doing that, you enable them and give them ground to stand on. Put it this way, they see trans people as filth, scum of the Earth. They've already show they don't give 2 shits about the lives of trans people. They get NO leverage. You condemn that shit, make it known that this is not acceptable.

I don't get why Athletic Commissions have anything to do with Professional Wrestling anymore. It's that simple! I understand why they want to ($$$) but it makes ZERO sense.

I know the most satisfying thing here would be for TK to tell the whole state to suck a fat one but it might be a bit more complicated than that when you got all the moving parts of a company. Now, that being said, TK might not be able to say it but WE sure can! Suck a fat one, OK Athletic Commission
