He can keep for as long as he wants as long as he drops it to Nick Aldis.

I redact my previous post and reiterate what I said in the Wrestlemania thread.
Given the similarities to Bret Hart's 1993 and 1994 Wrestlemania main events - faced an A'naoi and lost under dubious circumstances - finally won a year later - Gets hoisted on the shoulders of all the babyfaces
So he should lose the title to Mr. Bob Backlund at Survivor Series.

It depends on how good his future stories/feuds are looking, how over he remains, how many eyes he brings to the product, who his opponents are, who is credible enough to dethrone him, and at what time to strike when the iron is hot.
If all these answers come together to say that a 1yr+ reign is the best conclusion then I certainly wouldn't be against although I think in general 1yr+ reigns should be the exception rather than the rule as having one guy hog a belt does weaken the rest of the roster no matter how well its booked. I enjoyed Punk's reign and looking back, Hogan's first run being so long was the right call but the last 2 years of Roman's was a waste of time, and perhaps Punk & Hogan's worked because of their rarity.

No, soley for the purpose of making ppv’s feel less filler-y and predictable. He can always win it back.

Even losing it to Kane for one day and winning it back meant it was worth seeing his matches, because you just never know if he might drop it.

It all boils down to if there's a story to be told, and if you think it's necessary to use a long reign to fully build Cody up as the top face who carries the promotion, ala Cena. Forcing it for the sake of having one helps nobody.

Probably. I don’t think you can go from a 3.5 year reign to a 6 month reign and not have your title reign look a little bit fraudulent. Especially looking at the talent on the SmackDown side.
I say as long as he’s over then keep the belt on him. When/if they turn, then take the belt off him.
