Something I've been wondering. As we all know adamentium is supposed to be unbreakable. We also know that comic continuity is flimsy at best (dead people return to life, immortals kick the bucket, people switch sides, you know the drill). So the question is has anyone ever broken adamentium before?

I'm sure it's been done....I mean everything's been done before. If not in regular continuity, than in a WHAT IF tale.

People have bent and screwed it up before. I don't know about 'breaking' it though

Thanos, maybe? Wasn't there a Moderator here that works for Marvel.....HINT HINT........ Madison Carter does, he documents the history of marvel of a sort. I'm pretty sure it's never actually been broken. Hell, if Uncle Ben is still dead, it's never been broken.

Uncle Ben lives, though in Ultimate Spider-Man.
Which goes back to my point about Marvel having such cluttered continuity, and so many alternate universes that I'm almost SURE it's been done before.
Madison, any help?

I think the most that has been done was it was bent/crushed, but never broken.

Madison, any help? Uncle Ben is still alive in Ultimate Spiderman? I could have sworn he bit it a long time ago. And the marvel universe isn't as cluttered as say, DC. In marvel you pretty much have the regular continuity, and the Ultimate universe, and no intermixing of the two. Unlike in DC...

I might be wrong, but I thought the Ultimates had crossed over a couple of times.
And I could have sworn that Uncle Ben was still alive in ULTIMATE SPIDEY, but I'm prolly wrong on that too, by now (Been a couple months since I picked it up....).

Let's face it, both DC and Marvel have crap-tastic continuities. The only company with a continuity problem as band as them is Capcom......and Square-Enix....

No I'm pretty sure the Ultimates continuity has stayed separate.

True Adamantium has only been dented, but Thor. Any comic where Adamantium has been broken or damaged have been retconned as Secondary Adamantium, a weaker version.

I think Black Panther has...well not broke it per se, but his claws are made of Vibranium which acts corrosively on any metal. So he can tear through adamantium but I don't think he's ever been shown to.

I read a "What If...?" story in which Logan didn't become Weapon X, some other guy did (I can't remember who, he wasn't a Marvel regular). At the story's end, Logan did battle with this alternate Weapon X (after Weapon X had slaughtered every member of Alpha Flight). Logan was victorious. He cut off Weapon X's head! That would mean that Logan simply had a sword made of something stronger than Adamantium lying about!

The Hulk tore Wolverine in half in Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk. Didn't The Hulk Destroy Ultron in Secret Wars? bit of revenge for Ultron "breaking" one of the Hulks legs with one of his blasts (never could figure that one out, the Hulk could carry extreme weights and put unlimited pressure on his legs but "breaks" it from a blast"?)
I'm sure Captain Americas Sheild also got broken in Secret Wars, cant remember how, maybe the Beyonder?

Hulk DID tear Wolverine in half, but he didn't break the metal, the point of separation was at a point on his body that was not covered in the metal. Remember, if every spot on Wolverine's skeleton was covered in the metal, he wouldn't be able to move, and thus, they ended up putting weak points in the metal(his joints).

So he can tear through adamantium but I don't think he's ever been shown to. There are two vibraniums, Wakandan, which absorbs vibrations and energy, and Antarctic, which weakens the molecular bonds of metal. Antarctic Vibranium can weaken Adamantium to the point it can be destroyed, but it is still very durable.

It was created through a secret process that has never been repeated. One of the attempts of recreate it was what led to the development of Adamantium.
