Regal. RAW wasn't great at the time (understatement of the century), and he felt different, fresh and was help the show from what I remember. It really sucks that he got busted for whatever and it ended way too quickly. It was good stuff.
honorable mention, King Booker. Hilarious and just nailed his character.

The best tournament win goes to Bret. Three awesome matches with great storytelling in one night.
Best use of the King moniker I’d go with a tie between King Bookahhh and Owen Hart.

I understand that opinions differ and one man's trash is another man's treasure But I really wish more of the people who vote for the worst possible option in this kind of poll, like Mabel, would actually post to talk about it. I don't necessarily want to make fun of anybody, I like a bunch of socially unacceptable shit, but I'd love to talk about it. Is it just a bunch of trolls voting for Mabel, or is someone out there actually a die hard Mabel fan at the expense of like, hugely notable career moments for Bret, Owen and Austin, or great gimmick runs like Booker. I mean I voted for Owen but I just want to add Big Vis had an amazing spinning heel kick.

Where did Kimg Nakamura come from? He pinned Corbin to take ownership of the crown. This led to the "Sad News" Corbin gimmick where everything went so wrong for him he started to get actual online sympathy...so WWE ended that.

Aside from King Booker there’s been no good “King” gimmick to come out of the tournament Yeah, I gotta agree. It's really a shame they attempt to revive someone with a gimmick change when most of the time is falls super flat. I'd just prefer if the KOTR winner is given a strong push to the title scene after winning more than anything else, but instead it's typically seen as busy work for someone.

That's weird

King Bookah because he was so over the top with it that worked. It was also the refresh Booker T needed at that time.

I really liked Edge going full canadian and demanding to be demoted from king to Stanley Cup winner.

I voted Mabel for non-troll reasons, before I even saw this post. I became a wrestling fan as a 5-6-year old kid in 1994 and was instantly enamored with the "behemoths." Yokozuna is my favorite wrestler to this day, for nostalgic reasons. In retrospect, Mabel absolutely sucked, but he was awesome to a kid just getting into wrestling. One of my very first pro wrestling memories, truly, is the angle where King Mabel melted down Undertaker's urn and turned it into a chain. My early wrestling fandom was primarily built on watching Coliseum Video tapes featuring matches from 1994-1996 and, quite frequently, featuring King Mabel, so it's just a nostalgia thing. If the question was "best King of the Ring winner," I would have voted Booker without a second thought. But, for my favorite? I genuinely voted for Mabel, just because it's the most memorable to me in my wrestling fandom.

Now you mention it I have thusly answered the wrong question. I think Bret was the best tournament win and Booker the best gimmick but my favourite was Regal by far.

Austin is my favorite wrestler among them but I loved Owen as the King of Harts. Booker would be second.

Owen still got a lot of love which is great.
25 years now since he passed away. Crazy how time flies by.
This crazy bastard should've been 59 years old today and totally on WWE commentary starting shit with wrestlers in the ring.

Looking at all the winners, I wish they didn't go away from the win the King of the Ring, get Summerslam title match.
1993 - Bret Hart winner. Yokozuna vs. Lex Luger WWF Title Match at Summerslam.
1994 - Owen Hart winner. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart WWF Title Match at Summerslam.
1995 - Mabel winner. Diesel vs. King Mabel WWF Title Match at Summerslam.
1996 - Stone Cold winner. Shawn Michaels vs. Vader WWF Title Match at Summerslam.
1997 - Triple H winner. Undertaker vs. Bret Hart WWF Title Match at Summerslam.
1998 - Ken Shamrock winner. Stone Cold vs. Undertaker Title Match at Summerslam.
1999 - Mr. Ass winner. Stone Cold vs. Mankind vs. Triple H Title Match at Summerslam.
2000 - Kurt Angle winner. Rock vs. Triple H vs. Kurt Angle Title Match at Summerslam.
2001 - Edge winner. Stone Cold vs. Kurt Angle Title Match at Summerslam.
2002 - Brock Lesnar winner. The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar Title match at Summerslam.
And the TV winners, Booker T, Regal, Sheamus, Barrett, Corbin and Woods all didn't get a title match at Summerslam.
Let's hope King Gunther changes this at he gets a title match against Damien Priest at Summerslam.
Also a note, big game from 1996 to 1999 skipping out on all 4 winners getting a title shot at Summerslam. Stone Cold, Triple H, Shamrock and Ass probably could've been squeezed into those title matches and not miss a beat.

16 different King of the Ring winners? There should be a tournament to decide the winner.

Funny I mention King of the Ring winners should get a title shot at Wrestlemania and Triple H gets it done.
